How To Make Fire In The Forest

As a seasoned survivor who’s spent countless nights in the heart of the forest, I can confidently say that the art of fire-making is not just a skill, but a lifeline. In this treacherous world where danger lurks around every corner, the warmth and light provided by fires have been my beacon of hope more times than I care to remember.

On a Cannibal Island, The Forest game immerses players in a struggle for survival. Dropped into this treacherous land with no escape route, players must adapt, fend off cannibals and mutants, and uncover the fate of the lost plane passengers – all while trying to find their own way back home.

In “The Forest,” fire plays an essential role, providing not just illumination but also cooking facilities and water purification methods. With the game’s nights becoming incredibly dark, maintaining a fire in your base is crucial for visibility. Absent a fire, you risk encountering enemies unawares. In “The Forest,” there are several structures where you can construct fires. Here’s how to set up each one:

In The Forest, starting a fire is quite simple. Once you’ve left the aircraft wreckage at the start of the game, you can access your Survivor’s Handbook by pushing ‘B’. Inside this guide, you can navigate to the Fire section and pick the kind of fire structure you desire.

After constructing a Fire-based building at your settlement, you can ignite it using your Lighter by simply pressing the E key when you are nearby. To maintain the fire’s continuity, you will need to utilize resources such as Money or Leaves.

Currently, there are four Fire-type buildings in The Forest:

Structure NameResources
Basic Fire
  • 7x Leaf
  • 2x Stick
Fire Pit
  • 7x Leaf
  • 4x Stick
  • 7x Rock
Standing Fire
  • 7x Leaf
  • 4x Stick
  • 3x Rock
Bonfire
  • 20x Leaf
  • 10x Stick
  • 5x Log

Here’s how each of the Fire structures work:

Basic Fire

Here’s a homemade, budget-friendly fire pit design using local materials. This versatile setup enables you to sterilize contaminated water by boiling it, provided you have a suitable pot. Additionally, it serves as a cooking station where you can grill meat and prepare stews.

Apart from providing heat, it can produce sufficient light for use during the night with some cash (money) and leaves added. Unfortunately, its duration is limited, and maintaining it requires continuously using up resources.

The Basic Fire can be reignited three times before it breaks.

Upgrading to the Advanced Campfire offers additional benefits compared to the Standard Campfire. Not only does it allow you to boil water and prepare meals, but its illumination is stronger as well. Additionally, it endures longer, making it a more practical choice for your settlement.

As a gamer, I find crafting this item a breeze compared to the Bonfire. All you need are common materials like Sticks, Rocks, and Leaves, which I usually stumble upon just by wandering around my environment.

The Forest.

Standing Fire

The Fire Stationed typically serves more for attacking purposes than illumination, yet it maintains its function of offering heat and light. However, it’s not suitable for cooking meals or heating water.

From my gaming perspective, it’s great to have some Flaming Arrows stashed away! I can stride towards an Ablaze Torch and ignite them for extra firepower!

The Standing Fire has collisions, so bumping into it won’t damage you.

Bonfire

In the event that you prioritize having a good light source, nothing beats the Bonfire. It stands out as the top choice for illumination within The Forest. When darkness falls, it significantly enhances the lighting at your base.

While it’s the costliest option available, it doesn’t offer much versatility, and it tends to draw in dangerous creatures like cannibals and mutants. Therefore, gamers might consider skipping this construction if they don’t want to inadvertently summon a horde of enemies towards their base.
