StarRupture isn’t just about building bases and fighting enemies while the world ends. You’ll also need to make sure your character stays alive by finding food and water.
The company running the mining operation you’re involved in isn’t known for being kind, so you’ll need to find your own resources. Here’s a guide to getting food in StarRupture, and how to improve those basic meals.
Where to Find Food in StarRupture
At the beginning of the game, you’ll find food by gathering plants, and they’re pretty common. Right after you leave your ship, look for a pond with some flowering plants around it. The plants you want are called Polifruits – they look similar to corn or carrots.
As you explore, you’ll likely find the remains of past adventurers. These bodies often contain useful supplies, like Calorie Bars. Sometimes, however, they carry healing items instead of food. They’re a good source of early-game nutrition, but once you’ve taken what they have, you won’t be able to search them again, even if the area resets after a Ruptura event.
Polifruit grows pretty easily, so you shouldn’t have trouble finding it, particularly around the pond close to where you begin. That same area also has plenty of Hydrobulbs, which are useful for getting water.
How to Process Food in StarRupture
Eating one Polifruit only restores 11 Calories, which isn’t a lot. To get more Calories from your food, you’ll need to craft better items using the Recipe Station. You can unlock this station by building relationships with one of the corporations in the game.
After you’ve built a Recipe Station, click the ‘Consumables’ button on the left side of the menu. This will show you all the food and drinks you can make, and what each one does. If you just want something to quickly refill your hunger, start by researching Calorie Bars. They give you 90 Calories each! To unlock the recipe for these, you’ll need to gather these resources:
- 80 Polifruit
- 30 Serpent Root
- 200 Data
You can find Serpent Roots in the rocky mountain biome northeast of the starting area.
For a better snack than standard Polifruits, try Figlers. They give you back 15 Calories and 20 Hydration, which makes them perfect for taking on long journeys in Arcadia. Figlers are crafted from Pricklers – the cactus plants that grow in the grassy areas near where you land.
