How to Make Glass & Windows in Hytale

In Hytale, players can gather and craft a wide variety of materials, and the system is generally easy to use. However, the way glass is made in Hytale is a little different than in games like Minecraft and Terraria. This guide will explain those differences.

This guide was created when Hytale first launched into early access. Because the game is constantly being updated, some of the information here might become outdated and may need to be revised later.

How to Make Glass in Hytale

Glass Bottles

Currently, you can craft glass bottles (specifically, Empty Potion Bottles) in the game, but you can’t yet make basic glass blocks or panes. Once you’ve built an Alchemist’s Workbench, these bottles can be used for crafting or simply displayed as decoration.

  1. Build a Furnace. Furnaces can be made at the standard Workbench, which is created through the Pocket Crafting menu, and they require six tree trunks and six stones.
  2. Insert a fuel source into the Furnace’s fuel slot. Sticks, tree trunks, plant fibers, and charcoal all serve as perfectly suitable fuel sources.
  3. Insert any sand block into one of the Furnace’s input slots. Now press “Turn On” beneath the fuel source to start the smelting.

You can get sand blocks by mining sand in deserts, which are the large yellow areas you see on the map. Keep in mind that while you might see yellow areas near rivers in other environments, those blocks will actually be sandstone, not sand.

How to Make Windows in Hytale

Builder’s Workbench

Players who were hoping for a basic glass block might be pleased to know they can still make windows. Just put any kind of wood log into the Builder’s Workbench, and you’ll find the window option there. If you’re new to this, you can create the Builder’s Workbench using the Pocket Crafting menu. Open it by pressing Tab and clicking the hammer icon next to your character. You’ll need four tree trunks and three stones to build it.

In Hytale’s Builder’s Workbench, you can make different types of windows. Experiment with various wood types, such as oak and birch, in the crafting station to discover the best look for your creations.
