You can’t run a realistic amusement park without staff members. Whenever you build a new ride or open a shop in Planet Coaster 2, you must hire an appropriate staff member to manage it. Thankfully, most of the time, the game will automatically hire a staff member when you open a new attraction. However, you also have the option to hire an employee manually.

To access this, navigate to the menu in your browser, then select the ‘Staff’ option. This will display all the personnel you can employ, neatly categorized into two groups: Park Services and Entertainment. The game offers a variety of 15 staff members within these categories. When you bring on a new team member, they will begin working right away and actively seek tasks that align with their skills. If suitable work presents itself, they’ll naturally take up the task. To illustrate, if you employ a Lifeguard for your park, they would automatically be assigned to oversee an unsupervised swimming pool.

Additionally, you have the option to manually delegate tasks to your team members. To accomplish this, simply click on the attraction or facility where you wish to assign them. Then, navigate to the ‘Staff’ section and select the Staff Picker tool to choose the appropriate team member for that particular location.

Furthermore, you can personalize salaries for your staff as well. Navigate to the Park Management dashboard, then choose the ‘Staff’ section. A new interface will display all your current employees. To adjust their salary ranges, simply click on ‘Salary Levels’ where you can toggle between Low, Moderate, and High wage options.

Setting the salary to Low Pay will cause them to lose morale quickly and eventually quit working.

As a gamer, I notice that my team’s spirits are reflected in this interface too. The game has five Morale levels: Wretched, Discontented, Satisfied, Joyful, and Ecstatic. It’s best to keep everyone joyful, but satisfied works too. If the morale dips below wretched for more than two consecutive days, a team member will choose to leave my service.

Maintaining the well-being and satisfaction of your team members is crucial for seamless business operations. Frequent burnout due to inadequate breaks or consistently low wages can lead to dissatisfaction, causing employees to leave. This results in additional costs associated with hiring and training new staff.

To begin with, make sure to provide ample rest areas for your staff scattered throughout the park, enabling them to unwind during their leisure times. You have the option to construct three distinct types of staff facilities, each designed to accommodate varying numbers of employees.

Facility NameStaff Occupancy
Staff Facilities Small4 Staff Members maximum
Staff Facilities Medium8 Staff Members maximum
Staff Facilities Large16 Staff Members maximum

You can also construct the “Mechanic Workshop” – another staff building, which will earn you Research Points upon its completion.

To guarantee that your team members receive just compensation, it’s essential to avoid chronic underpayment. While occasional short-term cost savings might be acceptable, it should not become a long-term policy due to its detrimental impact on overall employee morale. Additionally, providing them with at least one or two work breaks throughout their schedule is recommended. To verify this, you can access the relevant settings in the Park Management menu.

If your team members aren’t getting sufficient breaks, think about increasing their compensation temporarily until you can recruit additional staff members.

In Planet Coaster 2, the focus is heavily on the management aspect of the game. As your park grows and improves its rating over time, you’ll find yourself employing a large number of staff members. It’s crucial to monitor their happiness levels to avoid unexpected resignations.
