How To Manage Weight & Use Stash In STALKER 2

As a seasoned Stalker, trekking the hazardous lands of Chernobyl for years on end, I’ve learned the hard way that every ounce counts in STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl. The weight mechanic is as brutal as the radiation-ridden wasteland itself. I’ve been trapped in a red zone more times than I care to remember, cursing my overstuffed backpack and wishing I had listened to this advice earlier.

The significance of weight is crucial in the gameplay dynamics of “STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl“. Players will encounter a plethora of items strewn across the game world, which they might be inclined to grab and store in their backpacks.

In STALKER 2, it is essential to understand the weight mechanic, as each item has its own weight. Carrying too many heavy items could negatively impact your character. Here’s a breakdown on managing your inventory effectively to prevent becoming overweight and experiencing undesirable effects:

Weight Mechanic in STALKER 2 Explained

In the immersive world of STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl, managing my weight is crucial for an optimal gaming experience. Maintaining a weight under 50 KG ensures that I can make the most of my stamina while running, leaping, and executing melee attacks with ease. Exceeding this limit, on the other hand, hampers mobility, causing faster stamina depletion or even limiting my movement altogether.

There are 3 limits to carrying weight in Stalker 2:

Weight Zone Effects
Under 50 KG Green Stamina consumption and regeneration while running, jumping, and melee attacks are normal.
Between 50 and 70 KG Yellow Actions like running, jumping, or melee attacks cost more stamina, and regeneration also becomes slower.
Between 70 and 80 KG Red Sprinting is replaced with a brisk walk, stamina consumption becomes the highest, and regeneration becomes the slowest.
80 KG or More Movement is completely restricted. Players need to discard items in order to move again.

How to Use Stash “Private Box” in STALKER 2

Instead of disposing of excess items gathered during exploration to lighten your load, consider keeping them in storage for safekeeping. It might prove useful later when you find yourself running low on supplies.

In STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, the player’s storage area is referred to as the “Personal Locker.” This locker can typically be located close to beds within bases. For instance, in Zalissya, players can discover their personal locker in their private rooms, which are situated in the same structure as the trader. Upon opening a personal locker, players can discard any excess items inside, and these items can be retrieved at a later time.

As a dedicated gamer, I’d like to share some tips about managing your inventory to prevent your character from getting too heavy:

  • Keep a maximum of 5-10 medkits, depending on how experienced you are with the game, and store the rest. High level variants of medkits can be stored 2 per type.
  • Only keep 2 weapons equipped, and send the rest to the stash. The same applies to their ammo as well.
  • Keep the quantity of drinks at 3 in your inventory (i.e: water and energy drinks), and store the rest.
  • If you’re careful enough, you can avoid radiation in most sections of STALKER 2. That said, you should still keep a maximum of 2 anti-radiation drugs in your inventory.
  • Store all unnecessary artifacts, PDAs, and notes inside your stash.
  • Either equip your attachments to your weapons or send them to your stash until you can use them.
