As a seasoned survival horror enthusiast with over a decade of gaming under my belt, I can confidently say that the Blue Creek Apartments in Silent Hill 2 Remake have been one of the most challenging and intriguing locations I’ve encountered. The Moth puzzle in Room 202 is a testament to this fact, leaving me scratching my head more than once before finally cracking the code!

As James hunts for his missing spouse, he’ll delve into the mysterious corridors of the Blue Creek Apartments. Upon encountering the door labeled “M“, swarming with moths outside, gamers will uncover a method to unlock it and venture within. The room is filled with a puzzle centered around the multitude of moths adorning its walls, which can prove tricky to solve. This walkthrough offers insights on cracking the Moth Lock in the “M” room, enabling further progress within the Blue Creek Apartments in the Silent Hill 2 Remake.

I successfully solved the puzzle at the “Standard” level. The solutions can differ for both the “Easy” and “Hard” challenges.

How To Open Room 202’s Moth Lock In Silent Hill 2 Remake

In the Blue Creek Apartments’ Clock Puzzle, your objective is to locate the Minute Hand to unlock the neighboring room’s door. Once you’ve figured out the Hour Hand (which opens the ‘H’ door), you can enter the room and smash the kitchen wall. Search the toilet for the Minute Hand, then tackle the Seesaw Puzzle to obtain the Winged Key. This key allows you descent to the 1st Floor. Return to the Clock, use the Minute Hand, and access the “M” door where the Moth puzzle commences.

Solving the Moth Puzzle

Upon stepping into the room, the door automatically closes and locks, ensuring you’re inside. Inside this room, various moths are showcased along with a locked door bearing mysterious symbols. A section of the wall is breakable, providing access to another room at the back. Here, pushing a cabinet reveals more display moths with similar symbols as on the lock. Observe carefully; there are symbols on the moths that correspond to those on the lock. To solve this puzzle, count the number of these symbols and subtract their values. The total count is:

  • 8 Crescent
  • 5 Circle
  • 2 Circle

Look at the Moth lock to find the difference, which results in 373. Once you’ve unlocked the door, move ahead to obtain the second hand from the hole in the wall.
