How to Open the Hernand Castle Strongbox in Crimson Desert

To open the Hernand Castle Strongbox in Crimson Desert, arrange the buttons in numerical order from one to eight. Start with the top row of three buttons, numbering them one to three from left to right. Then, number the bottom row of five buttons four through eight, also from left to right. Entering this sequence will unlock the box.

You’re supposed to find a clue on the side of the Strongbox, but some players are reporting a bug that makes the text unreadable right now.

After opening the box, you may need to use a lantern to see inside and grab the item – a recipe for a Lavish Meal. This meal restores your Stamina and lets you use it without it being reduced.

How to Find the Hernand Castle Strongbox in Crimson Desert

Unlocking the Door

To find the Hernand Castle Strongbox, you first need to get inside the castle grounds. The guards at the main gate require you to be wearing Hernandian Attire before they’ll let you pass. You can get this outfit by completing the ‘Actions Speak Louder than Words’ quest. Once you’re dressed appropriately, the guards will allow you entry. While it’s possible to climb the walls to sneak in, it’s generally better to follow the rules.

After entering the front gate, follow the main path to a second locked gate with guards in front. As long as you have the Hernandian Attire equipped, they will let you in.
Head up the small staircase to enter the next area of the castlegrounds. Again, follow the main path to reach an interior section of the castle with two guards standing outside.
As soon as you enter underneath the arched entrance, turn into the first doorway on the right to find a staircase.
Head up two sets of stairs to find a room with even more stairs. Run all the way to the top of them to find a single locked door. At this point, you should see a chest icon on the map leading you to said room.
Unlock the door with a generic key, and the Hernand Castle Strongbox will be inside.

Keep in mind this key only works once, so be careful not to use it on the wrong door – I learned that the hard way!
