How to Parry in Code Vein 2

In Code Vein 2, players have multiple options for defending against attacks, including parrying. However, parrying isn’t available right away. You’ll need to unlock it first. This guide will explain how to parry in Code Vein 2.

Other defensive options include blocking and dodging.

How to Parry in Code Vein 2

Get & Equip Parry Equipment

To start blocking attacks, you first need to get an item that allows you to parry. You can find the “Mutinous Bracer” early in the game by talking to one of Jadwiga’s helpers in MagMell. This helper is located in the short hallway right after the weapon upgrade and transformation NPCs – the pictures above will help you find them.

Players can first talk to this follower of Jadwiga while visiting MagMell in the past during the “Mastering Control of Time” quest. Since this happens early in the game, players won’t have to wait long to learn how to parry.

Okay, so I finally got the Mutinous Bracer, and now I need to equip it. I opened up the Field Menu and went to the Defensive slot, then just selected the bracer. Once I did that, I was all set to start parrying – pretty cool!

While the Mutinous Bracer can block attacks, it’s not the only way to parry. Players will find other items and abilities, like combat formae and Jails, that also allow them to deflect incoming attacks as they progress through the game.

Timing

When wearing the Mutinous Bracer, you can deflect attacks by pressing the L1/LB button right before you’re hit. A well-timed press will block the attack, prevent damage, and throw the enemy off balance. This creates an opening for you to attack, and landing two successful parries will usually leave the enemy vulnerable.

Not all attacks can be parried and will instead be blocked with correct timing.

Just one more detail: a successful parry using the Mutinous Bracer uses ichor, which is a combat resource shown as a number above your stamina bar. You use ichor when performing special combat moves. Even if you’re out of ichor, you can still interrupt an enemy’s attack with a parry, but it won’t block the damage.
