As a long-time fan of the Baldur’s Gate series, I couldn’t contain my excitement when I heard about Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 and its upcoming closed beta. The prospect of testing out new features, bug fixes, and major improvements to companion reactivity and the official Mod Toolkit is truly a dream come true for me.
The seventh patch for Baldur’s Gate 3 is a significant update, bringing major changes to Faerun that have left players excited. In addition to fixing bugs and adding new endings, this update marks the arrival of the much-anticipated Mod Toolkit.
Larian Studios is seeking individuals to try out the latest game updates in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3) during the closed beta for Patch 7. If this opportunity appeals to you, follow these steps:
Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 Closed Beta start date
The beta testing for the seventh patch of Baldur’s Gate 3 is set to begin on July 22, 2024. To join the playtest, make sure to register before that date.

How to register for Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 Closed Beta
- Sign in to Steam.
- Go to Baldur’s Gate 3 store page.
- Look for the “Join the Baldur’s Gate 3 Playtest” option.
- Click on “Request Access.”
Larian Studios may choose at random some registered participants for a special event. If you’re among the chosen ones, you’ll receive an email with details about your involvement. The email will contain preliminary update information, instructions on reporting glitches, and a list of the features being evaluated.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 Beta features
Based on the early patch notes for Update 7 in Baldur’s Gate 3, the following are the new features that players can test during the closed beta:
- Dynamic split screen
- Honour Mode Improvements: New Legendary Actions for Malus Thorm, githyanki Ch’r’ai Tska’an, Ch’r’ai Har’rak, Ptaris, and Dror Ragzlin.
- BG3 Modding Toolkit
- Evil ending options and cinematics for Origin and original characters.
- Dark Urge bug fixes (including Alfira as a temporary companion, and companion reactivity to its actions).
- Epilogue options and bug fixes.
- Origin characters fixes.
- Wyll: Dialogue reactivity, fixes for romance scenes.
- Astarion: Kissing animation fixes, Origin characters reactivity to his personal quest.
- Lae’zel: More varied idel animations, fixed resurrecting Lae’zel on the beach glitch, and more.
- Karlach: Companion reactivity, Avernus scene expanded, animation fixes.
- Gale: Donation UI fix, Mystra’s dialogue.
- Shadowheart: Animation fix, “Daughter of Darkness” glitch, kiss animation tweaks, and more.
As a gamer, I’m excited about all the new additions in Patch 7 that Larian Studios will be sharing in the preliminary beta notes. While we await these details, we can already look forward to discovering which strange item is causing players to drop their entire inventory and which class manages to do without weapons at all.
