It’s easy to spend hours customizing your character in Hytale, but if you rarely see your creation – like only when it’s facing away from you – all that effort feels wasted. Switching to a third-person view lets you fully appreciate how amazing your Hytale avatar looks!
One of the best parts of Hytale is customizing your character, and it’s frustrating when you can’t actually see those customizations. What’s the fun of creating a unique look with things like a big beard, a silly hat, and a cool cape if the camera hides it all? Hytale really needs a third-person camera mode to solve this.
How To Switch To Third-Person Camera POV In Hytale

Hytale offers two options for switching to a third-person perspective: you can adjust the settings in the game’s menu, or use a designated key to quickly change viewpoints while playing.
In-Game
Instead of going through the menus, you can quickly switch between first-person and third-person views on PC by simply pressing the ‘V’ key. It’s the fastest and easiest way to change between these perspectives.
The game usually shows things from your character’s eyes, but a lot of players like to see their character from a distance instead. You can also press the ‘C’ key to switch to a view where your character faces the screen – it’s a pretty cool feature!
This method is a little tricky and complicated, so we don’t really suggest using it. However, it does allow you to get a good, clear view of your avatar’s appearance from the front.
Settings
Here are the instructions if you want to see the camera settings and adjust them manually:
- Press the Esc key to bring up the menu screen.
- Click on Settings.
- Select the Gameplay tab.
- Scroll down to the Camera sub-menu.
- Choose First Person or Third Person.
- You can also Remember Last Used as a permanent way to select your camera setting.
- Pick Save Changes, and then return to the game.
Should You Play In First-Person Or Third-Person In Hytale?
TopMob suggests playing in first-person rather than third-person. This gives you a wider view of your surroundings and potential threats, and it also lets you fully appreciate your character’s appearance and the effort you’ve put into customizing them.
It’s strange when first-person shooter games, or games with a fixed first-person view, let you customize your character’s appearance without offering a way to see those changes from a third-person perspective. How can you really appreciate how your character looks if you can’t see them?
Using a third-person perspective is really helpful for spotting potential problems that you might miss if you were experiencing things directly. It gives you a broader view and allows you to anticipate issues more effectively.
Here’s what IG has to say: What do you believe is the most interesting viewpoint in Hytale, and what makes it stand out? Share your thoughts on the TopMob Discord server – it’s free to join and growing rapidly!
As a Hytale fan, I’m loving all the extra stuff coming out! They’ve got really helpful guides too – I’ve already been checking out the best mods to download, and I’m excited to learn how to find the Forgotten Temple and restore those memories. It’s great to see so much support for the game!
