Fans of Animal Crossing: New Horizons have a lot to look forward to this month! A big new update, version 3.0, is coming, adding several features that should bring players back to the game – even those who haven’t played in months or years.
The big 3.0 update is launching soon, and players can get a head start by preparing their islands now. This way, they’ll be ready to enjoy all the new content immediately after downloading, instead of spending the first few days completing tasks just to unlock it.
Build Your Furniture Catalog
So, the next Animal Crossing update is gonna let me help Kapp’n’s family run a hotel on my island! Basically, I’ll be decorating rooms for guests, and each room has a different theme. Like, in the trailer they showed a Seaside Room, and I’ll have to dig through all my furniture and decorations to make it look just right – think beachy vibes and all that! It sounds like a really fun way to use all the stuff I’ve collected.
Players should add lots of different furniture items and styles to their catalog before the update arrives, giving them plenty of choices when it does.
Purchase Clothes that Match the Island Vibe

Hotel guests can now borrow clothes displayed on mannequins in the lobby to wear during their stay. Because of this, we encourage you to check what clothes you’ve packed to see if you have items that would look good on the mannequins. You might find you’re missing just one piece to complete a great outfit!
If that’s true, players should check the Able Sisters’ shop every day until the update arrives, looking for the perfect clothes for their island visitors. They can choose any outfit they like – something for the beach, a funny costume, or whatever suits their style – it’s all up to the player to decide what their guests will wear.
Prepare Your Amiibo and Amiibo Cards
With the new Update 3.0 for Animal Crossing: New Horizons, four new amiibo characters are coming to the game. Players can invite Mineru and Tulin from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, as well as Cece and Viché, villagers based on the Splatoon characters Callie and Marie, to visit their islands. While Cece and Viché appeared in a previous Animal Crossing game (New Leaf), Mineru and Tulin are completely new villagers. You can invite these characters to your campsite and, if you’re lucky, convince them to become permanent residents of your island.
Players can also use amiibo and amiibo cards to invite guests to stay at Kapp’n’s resort. These hotel guests are different from campsite visitors because they can explore the entire island – you might even see them at the museum, shops, or just enjoying the scenery.
Stock Up on Crafting Materials
The new update will let players craft items in large quantities, so now is a good time to gather resources. Get your materials ready and you’ll be able to craft everything you need easily once the update arrives.
There’s another great reason to collect lots of materials: you’ll need hotel tickets to buy special items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. You get these tickets by crafting items and giving them to Tom Nook, which means gathering a variety of resources. It’s smart to start collecting those resources now, so you’re prepared and don’t have to worry about it later when you’re busy with other things.
Add All Your Friends on Switch
A new feature called Slumber Island is coming to the game, letting players fully customize their own island. It’s even more enjoyable when you invite friends to help build and decorate! Players on the Switch 2 will be able to invite more friends than ever before – up to 12 people can visit and collaborate on an island at the same time, a feature exclusive to Update 3.0.
Players should add all the friends they want to invite to their island so they can easily host events.
Don’t Redo Your Entire Island Before the Update

Okay, so I’m getting back into Animal Crossing: New Horizons and I’m SO excited for the update! I was thinking of starting to rearrange everything on my island now, but apparently it’s best to wait until the update actually drops. Nintendo is making some big improvements to Resetti and the whole island cleanup process, and it sounds like it’ll be way more effective if we do it after the update. I’m trying to be patient!
Resetti is now a helpful assistant for tidying up your island! He can move flowers, furniture, and decorations for you, letting you choose whether to store them or get rid of them. This makes decorating outdoors much simpler, as you won’t have to spend time individually moving and storing items. Plus, your storage is getting a big boost – it’s expanding to hold up to 9,000 items, and you’ll even be able to store trees, bushes, and flowers!
Save As Many Bells As You Can

I’m so excited about the new update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons! It’s going to be way easier to completely change up how my island looks. I’ll be able to move houses and shops around, tear down and rebuild bridges and ramps, and just generally decorate to my heart’s content. The only downside is it’s going to cost a lot of Bells, so I’m definitely saving up to pay Tom Nook for all the construction!
Plus, players can look forward to new items to collect. They’ll also need to purchase extra storage space to keep everything safe. All of this will require a lot of Bells, so it’s a good idea to start saving up now.
Start Farming Nook Miles

Update 3.0 for Animal Crossing: New Horizons will add a bunch of new items to the Nook Shopping platform, including dozens of LEGO sets and clothing options. Items from The Legend of Zelda that were previewed in the trailer will likely be available for purchase there as well.
To get all the new and special items, players will need to save up a lot of Nook Miles for when the update releases. It’s a good idea to start doing daily tasks now to earn as many Nook Miles as possible, so you can buy everything you want each day.
