A highlight of Kirby Air Riders is the fast-paced City Trial mode, where you’ll race to improve your vehicle and abilities. Because there are so many different mini-games, it’s key to be prepared for anything!
To get the most power in the game, you need to collect all the available power-ups scattered around the city. But with fifteen other players competing for the same items, it won’t be easy – you’ll likely have to battle for them. Or will you find another way?
Okay, so I’ve been playing a ton of Kirby Air Ride, and City Trial is packed with secrets! I just discovered this huge, floating island above the city, and it’s not just there to look cool. Seriously, it’s loaded with power-ups just waiting for you to grab them. It’s a game changer, trust me!
So, how do you actually get to the flying island in City Trial mode in Kirby Air Riders? That’s what everyone’s wondering.
Necessary Preparations
Unfortunately, you can’t simply fly to the floating island when you begin City Trial. You’ll need to complete some tasks first!
To get around easily, you’ll need to be able to fly and gain altitude. A Wing Star vehicle combined with lots of Glide power-ups is a great way to do this. Also, choosing a character skilled at flying, like Meta Knight, can be very helpful.
For what it’s worth, here was my stat allotment that let me reach the floating island.

When playing as Meta Knight, his special move lets him quickly dash through the air, helping him fly and get to the island more easily.
How To Reach The Floating Island In City Trial
When you’ve reached a similar point, or if you feel ready, you can go to the volcano.
You’ll find it in the north on the map. It’s hard to miss – it towers over the city and is visible from almost anywhere.
You’ll climb up the ramps and reach the top of the volcano.
Start by jumping into the opening and work your way down. You’ll eventually land on a moon where you can find plenty of power-ups.
We’re not interested in the extra stuff, but the main goal is that bright laser in the center of the area. If you drive towards it, it will launch you upwards, putting you in the perfect spot to reach the floating island.
Be careful not to go too far! You can angle your machine downwards to reach the island. There’s also a challenge where you need to hit the underside of the island if you’re aiming for full completion. Alternatively, pressing and holding the B button will instantly drop your machine onto the island.
I’ve included a video that shows you how to do this, if you’d like to see it instead of reading the instructions.
That’s it! Hopefully, no one beat you to the island; enjoy the power-ups!
