The “Secrets Hidden in the Dark” quest in Crimson Desert becomes quite easy once you know the locations and clues. It begins with searching for someone called “Greymane” at Bloomwood Ranch, but you’ll soon discover this is actually just a man named Boris who’s had a bit too much to drink.

You’ll then follow a character to a cave occupied by bandits. Once you’ve defeated the bandits and cleared the area, you can use your Lantern and Visione helmet to explore a hidden memory. After discovering the truth within the cave, report back to the guards nearby to finish the quest and claim your rewards. Where to Start the Secrets Hidden in the Dark Quest

The “Secrets Hidden in the Dark” mission is part of Chapter 2: Golden Greed and happens in the Hernand region. You’ll start it close to Springtide Mill, right after finishing the previous quest. The story then sends you to Bloomwood Ranch, where you’ll investigate rumors about a Greymane to find out what to do next.

You’ll soon discover the situation isn’t what you expected. The man known as “Greymane” is really just Boris, a local drunk who’s being bothered by a few guys. It’s important to talk to him, though, as he still holds information you need to continue the quest.

You need to finish the main quest “The Man Trapped in the Mire” from Chapter 2 before you can begin the “Secrets Hidden in the Dark” quest.

How to Complete the Secrets Hidden in the Dark Quest

Follow Boris to Unicorn Cliff

Once Boris leaves, your next step is to follow him on horseback. Summon your horse and stay right behind him as he travels to Unicorn Cliff. The ride is straightforward – just don’t let him get out of sight, because the next part of the quest will begin when you arrive.

Boris will eventually come to a halt by a damaged cart near a cave. This is where the trouble begins, as the area is now controlled by bandits.

First, you’ll need to defeat the enemies guarding the cave. While the fight isn’t too hard, going in without a plan could make it chaotic. Carefully eliminate all the bandits nearby to make the entrance safe.

After the area is secured, Boris will pretend he needs to radio for reinforcements, effectively leaving you to investigate by yourself.

Investigate the Suspicious Cave

Your goal inside the cave is to uncover a lost memory. Venture further in, and look for dim, blue, ghost-like images – they’ll let you know you’re on the right path.

Turn on your Lantern and carefully look around. Watch how the Lantern’s light changes – if you point it towards the right direction, the glow will get brighter, showing you where the memory is located. It might seem a little unclear at first, but you’ll quickly understand by paying attention to the light’s response.

After locating the memory, keep your Lantern aimed at the blue ghosts until Kliff has finished absorbing the information. This will unlock the next part, where you need to watch the memory itself. You can do this by either going into your menu and choosing the memory, or by equipping the Visione helmet.

As a fan, I have to say the Visione really helps everything click into place. It makes the whole sequence so much easier to follow and you finally get a clear picture of what’s happening with the cave. Plus, it gives you important backstory and even hints about this mysterious group called the Animal Thieves – it’s really adding to the story!

Leave the Cave and Report Back

Once you’ve seen the memory, exit the cave. You’ll then see a scene showing Boris’s guards arriving. You’re nearly finished with this task at this point.

Just follow the marker until you reach a road with the guards stationed there. Talk to them and tell them what you’ve found out. This conversation will reveal that Hornsplitter and his crew are the most likely culprits behind the recent problems.

Secrets Hidden in the Dark Quest Rewards and Completion

After you’ve spoken with the guards, the quest will be completed. You’ll get a tool to expand your inventory, plus some simple items like cooked meat and fruit. The rewards aren’t amazing, but the extra inventory space is really helpful when you’re just starting out.

Finishing this quest is crucial because it advances the storyline, paving the way for tougher battles and uncovering more complex secrets about the Hernand region.

Once you finish the “Secrets Hidden in the Dark” quest, you can begin the final quest of Chapter 2: Golden Greed, called “The End of Greed.” You’ll then complete a series of tasks leading up to a battle with the boss, Kailok. Beating Kailok will conclude this chapter of Crimson Desert.
