Building on the popularity of Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Pokémon Legends: Z-A returns to the Kalos region and Lumiose City. The biggest change in this new game is a completely revamped battle system, moving away from the traditional turn-based combat.

How to Redeem Codes in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

You can’t immediately redeem codes for rewards in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. You’ll need to play through the beginning of the game and unlock online features first.

To unlock online features in Legends: Z-A, you’ll first need to progress through the early parts of the game. This includes completing initial missions like meeting Team MZ at Hotel Z, winning a few battles, and catching some Pokémon. After you meet Mable and finish your first Research Task, you’ll be able to access online features.

Once you have unlocked the online features and code redemption, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Main Menu (X on your Switch console).
  2. Select ‘Link Play’.
  3. Choose the ‘Mystery Gift’ option.
  4. Select ‘Get With Code/Password’.
  5. Type out your code and hit enter.
  6. Claim your rewards.

How to Claim Pre-Order Bonuses in Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Similar to redeeming codes, you won’t be able to access pre-order bonuses right away in Pokémon Legends: Z-A. You’ll need to play through the story to unlock online features first.

It generally takes about an hour of playing Legends: Z-A before you can access online features, and you’ll need an internet connection to do so.

Getting your pre-order rewards is easy! Unlike redeeming a code, you don’t have to type anything in. Instead, your rewards will be delivered automatically through the Mystery Gift feature. Here’s how to access them:

  1. Open the Main Menu (X on your Switch console).
  2. Select ‘Link Play’.
  3. Choose the ‘Mystery Gift’ option.
  4. Select ‘Get via Internet’ or ‘Check Mystery Gifts’.
  5. The system will check that you are connected to the internet.
  6. Select the reward you wait to receive.
