How to Reroll Level Up Abilities in Mewgenics

After each successful battle with your four cats in Mewgenics, one cat will randomly gain a level. This improves their stats and lets you choose a new ability for them. Abilities usually match a cat’s class (determined by their collar), but some are available to all cats. While you’ll often find an ability you like from the initial choices, you might want to know how to get a new set of options in Mewgenics.

How well your cats perform in battle depends a lot on the skills they learn as they level up. It’s best to pick skills that work well with each cat’s strengths and with the skills of their teammates. For instance, freezing enemies is powerful when combined with a skill that instantly defeats or heavily damages frozen foes. Giving skills to cats who already have lots of energy and can move quickly allows them to easily navigate the battlefield and take down enemies.

How to Reroll in Mewgenics

If you don’t like the stat boosts your cat gets when leveling up, you can get new ones by finding and using special items like the Furry Dice, D6, and Chaos Controller. You can also reroll options after unlocking the Jester collar – see below for more details.

Equipping Items to Get More Rerolls

Equip the Furry Dice in your cat’s neck armor slot and the D6 in its trinket slot. The Furry Dice lets you reroll your upgrade choices each time that cat levels up, and it also boosts the cat’s Luck stat by +1. Luck affects how often critical hits happen and influences all random elements in the game, making it a valuable stat to improve.

The D6 item helps your cat gain levels while equipped and lets you reroll the level-up choices twice. I’ve usually found these items randomly during a run, as prizes for winning fights, or for sale at Lucy’s shop.

Once you finish a few of Dr. Beanies’ invention quests, he’ll give you the Chaos Controller. This item lets you reroll the perks you get when your cat levels up – you get three tries! Plus, it unlocks abilities from every cat class, even if your cat isn’t currently in that class.

Remember, these items take up room in your inventory when your cat isn’t using them, so it’s a good idea to expand your inventory whenever possible.

You can combine the Furry Dice and D6 items to give yourself three rerolls.

Getting Rerolls from the Jester Class

Once you unlock the Jester class by completing Act 3, you’ll have already discovered the unique passive ability of each class. For the Jester, this ability lets you reroll your level-up choices twice. Similar to the Chaos Controller, it also unlocks all abilities from every class, allowing you to create a truly customized cat with mixed skills.

Equipping the complete Jester outfit gives you three extra rerolls. The Jester cap boosts your Charisma and, after a reroll, unlocks abilities from every class. You can find some Jester gear pieces before you even unlock the Jester class, but you’ll need to finish a run with a Jester in your party to get the rest.

Can You Reroll Cats Stats in Mewgenics?

You can’t choose which stray cats show up at your door, and you also can’t control the traits of kittens born to your cats. A bit of chance determines a cat’s natural abilities and stats when they’re born or arrive at your home. Kittens may get traits from their parents, but stray cats seem to have completely random characteristics.

We strongly suggest keeping your strongest cats indoors to breed them. This will produce powerful kittens, and once those kittens grow up, you can breed them again to create even stronger cats.
