In “Monster Hunter Wilds”, once the tutorial stage ends, battles against massive creatures grow progressively challenging. To succeed, players must master not just their weapon of choice but also comprehend each monster’s behavioral patterns. A crucial aspect for initiating a fight effectively is landing surprise attacks.

Sneaking attacks are powerful opening moves in combat which catch monsters off guard and instantly make them vulnerable. Moreover, a successful sneak attack is essential for earning the Hunter-Assassin achievement. Here’s how it operates:

* Sneaking attacks catch monsters off guard, making them vulnerable
* Players can quickly build up weapon resources at the start of combat
* Damage with Wounds possible if lucky
* Essential to earn Hunter-Assassin trophy by performing successful sneak attacks.

How to Sneak Attack in MH Wilds

In Monster Hunter Wilds, players can perform a stealth attack on monsters by moving towards them in a crouched position with their weapons hidden. A prompt will show up when the hunter is close enough and the monster remains unaware, allowing for a sneak attack. To execute this sneak attack, simply press ‘F’ (on PC), ‘B’ (on Xbox), or ‘Circle’ (on PlayStation) when the prompt appears.

When Can You Perform Sneak Attacks in MH Wilds

There are two instances when the Hunter can perform a sneak attack on a monster.

At the Start of a Fight

As a stealthy gamer, I like to catch monsters off guard by initiating combat with a well-timed sneak attack. Paying close attention to the monster’s movement patterns and line of sight is crucial before creeping up on it. It’s essential that the monster has its back turned to me when I move in, and I always make sure to have some sort of cover nearby, like a bush or a rock, to duck behind when the monster turns its gaze my way.

After the Monster Runs Away

When a monster sustains substantial harm, it’s highly probable that it will retreat to another spot. Once it moves, it will no longer be aggressive towards other players. This allows hunters to approach the monster quietly, much like at the beginning of the battle, and launch a surprise attack on it.

Keeping close behind on a Secretive creature while it’s moving away ensures it remains vigilant or aware.

How to Hide in MH Wilds

To carry out a stealthy ambush effectively, it’s essential to learn how to remain unseen by dangerous creatures. Various techniques can help you accomplish this goal.

  1. Hold the crouch key and approach the monster from behind. Doing so reduces the noise you emit while moving and is required for a quiet approach.
  2. Use bushes and tall grass to hide from monster vision. Pressing Crouch inside a bush essentially renders you completely invisible to all monsters nearby. Bushes you can hide in are highlighted with a green glow.
  3. Use a Ghillie Mantle to give yourself partial invisibility for a short duration.
