In the game Where Winds Meet, the world feels dynamic and reactive. Everyone, including both non-player characters and players, must follow the rules of each region. Breaking the law will earn you a ‘wanted’ status. For players, this means becoming a ‘Criminal’ and being open to pursuit by other players. But how does the Bounty System actually function?
In the intricate world of WWM, dealing with Bounties and False Accusations is a major challenge. Players need to resolve these issues swiftly to avoid being pursued. Our guide provides a complete overview of the law enforcement system in the Jianghu and Qinghe regions.
How Do Bounties Work in Where Winds Meet
In Where Winds Meet, players can quickly gain a criminal status by doing things like trespassing, selling illegal items, or buying from untrustworthy characters. However, the most serious crimes are getting caught stealing, hurting other players, or killing non-player characters.
If someone sees a rule violation, the players involved will be marked as criminals, and a warning message will appear in the top-left corner of the screen. Players can click on this message to see details about what they did wrong and how to fix it before it’s too late.
When players are first caught breaking the rules, they’ll be sent to jail for a set amount of time. They also have the option of participating in ‘The Pardon Parade,’ a daily event where they’re publicly shamed – paraded through town in a cage on a cart while onlookers boo. If players offend repeatedly, their jail sentences will get longer, and they’ll have to endure a longer Pardon Parade as punishment, so it’s best to avoid getting caught!
Now, there are two possible resolutions for this:
- Players should seek a particular NPC and pay a fine.
- Players should hire a ‘Scholar’ to solve certain cases for them, paying Bounty Tokens.
You can get Bounty Tokens by completing Weekly Activities in the Warrior’s Journey section, or by buying them at the Jinaghu Treasure Shop. You also earn them by capturing wanted NPCs or by dealing with Wanted Players who won’t pay their fines or resolve the accusations against them.
Okay, so to get started with these bounties, you need to head to any of the main towns in the game. Once you hit level 25, you’ll be able to check out the Bounty Board. You’ll see a ton of different requests there – everything from figuring out who’s been wrongly accused to tracking down actual criminals. It’s a good way to get involved in the game’s world and do some interesting quests!
Players can complete different kinds of Bounties, such as healing other players if they have the Healer profession. They can then trade Bounty Tokens earned from these tasks at a special shop found within the Bounty Boards for useful items like Consumables and Cosmetics.
How to Solve False Accusations in Where Winds Meet

Sometimes, players may be wrongly accused of a crime, which will be shown by a warning sign in the top left corner. If this happens, players need to post a bounty through the Bounty Status window and request a player with a high Scholarship skill to clear their name.
For small offenses, players typically pay a small fee (a ‘Bounty Token’) for each false accusation. More serious crimes, like murder or theft, may require a larger payment. If playing alone (Solo Mode), players usually have 22 in-game hours to prove their innocence. When accused while playing online with others, they have 1 hour in real time to do so.
Once they’ve committed the crime, a bounty will be placed on their heads, and both non-player characters and other players will hunt them. It’s best to resolve the situation quickly to enjoy a life of freedom in Where Winds Meet.
Okay, so the Bounty System is a bit rough around the edges right now. It feels a little unfair because experienced players can easily target and take out NPC killers and criminals, and honestly, they have a huge advantage doing it. I’m keeping an eye on things, and I’ll update this guide as soon as the developers release any patches to make it more balanced. I want to make sure everyone has a fair shot!
