ARC Raiders is consistently receiving updates and fresh content. The latest additions to this extraction shooter include the Cold Snap update and the discovery of mysterious secret doors within the Buried City map.
This music-based puzzle is unusually difficult. Expect to try it several times, as success depends on the cooperation of everyone else playing – which is unlikely to happen!
The coolest thing about discovering this hidden room is that it took everyone working together to figure out the tricky puzzle. I got the final clue from a Reddit post, but I’ve put together a simple guide below with some useful tips to help you do it too.
What is the Music Door Puzzle?

The recent Cold Snap update included a few hidden additions. Players who have been carefully exploring the Buried City map may have found some new buttons.
All of these clues lead to a single door on the map. Opening it rewards you with one of the game’s most valuable and hard-to-find items. As far as I know, this is the only way to obtain it.
This will be challenging, but I assure you it’s achievable. You’ll face difficulties, but the reward is truly unique once you succeed. The answer you need is detailed in the following section.
How to Solve the Music Door Puzzle?
This puzzle can be solved by pressing 15 buttons scattered around the map. The correct order to press them is indicated by musical notes found near each button.
Ideally, you should organize your items into three stacks, though two will work in a pinch. Before you head out, think about what you need to bring – a basic set of equipment is essential, because things often don’t go as planned.
You’re free to approach this however your group sees fit, but I’m sharing how my team handled it. It’s helpful to plan your approach first, and this guide assumes you’re working with a team of three.
You’ll need help with this, even using a Snaphook. It’s just too time-consuming to move around on your own.
First Button — Plaza Rose
The first button is inside the yellow house in Plaza Rose. When facing the building from where you started, it’s on the top floor, on the right side. Enter through the left side entrance, go up the stairs, and turn right, heading towards the chairs. You’ll find the button between the wall and the chairs.
Pressing this button starts the game, so it’s important to get it right. If the button doesn’t light up when you press it, you’ll have to start over, so please be careful. Once Player A presses the button, they should move to the sixth button.
Second Button — Gallery
On the south side of the Gallery roof, there’s a zipline that takes you into a building. Once inside, turn left and walk around the wall – you’ll find the other button tucked between some shelves.
When playing with a team of three, the most skilled player should generally take the lead. They’ll be responsible for handling the riskiest actions. Once that’s done, the second player should move to activate the fourth button.
It’s best if you take turns and don’t all try to do everything at once. Having someone already at a button is helpful, rather than rushing and running out of time.
Third Button — Warehouse
Look for a couple of machines leaning against the wall on the roof of the warehouse, near the broken windows. The third button is located between them.
Generally, following this button sequence is the simplest and most secure approach, but there’s still a chance other players will interfere. This player is likely to claim most of the buttons around the edge of the map. However, they’ll start with the fifth button, which is a common spot for encountering other players.
Fourth Button — Marano Park
This button is likely the most dangerous to activate because it’s right next to a strong enemy spawn point. You can find it inside a small newspaper stand in the middle of the park.
Okay, so when you first walk in, the button is right there on your right. It’s a pretty decent hiding spot if a Bastion or Bombardier is chasing you, but getting out quickly can be tricky. If you need to escape, I usually just sprint through the trees towards Research – that usually keeps the damage to a minimum. And if you’re feeling brave – or if Player B is – you can actually head straight for the Library to grab that seventh button afterwards!
Fifth Button — Grandioso Apartments
Okay, so I finally figured out where this one is! It’s way up on the top floor of the smaller building. Once you get there using the zipline, you need to break the windows to climb outside. Then, head to the room at the back – the button you’re looking for is hidden on the floor, right behind the bed!
Now, Player C needs to go to the eighth button to prepare for the next part of the challenge. This is where it gets tricky, so it’s important that all the buttons light up correctly. If they don’t, it’s best to collect any valuable items and leave.
Across the bridge, on the other side of the building, there’s a zipline that will take you closer to the eighth button.
Sixth Button — Piazza Arbusto
This challenge isn’t really dangerous, just a little frustrating, and it takes place outdoors. The button you need to press is located on a small tower on top of the pharmacy. Carefully walk around the side of the tower’s ledge to reach it and press the button.
Okay, so Player A is up next and they’re heading for button number nine. I heard you can take the highway just behind the pharmacy to get there quickly – that’s a good tip!
Seventh Button — Su Durante Warehouses
This button is fairly easy to find – it’s inside a bus parked on the road near the warehouses. You’ll find it tucked between two seats, making it a comfortable spot to take a quick break.
Player B’s next button is the tenth one, which is a little easier to reach. Just be careful to avoid any enemy teams nearby. Getting this button completes half of the task!
Eighth Button — Corso da Vinci
If you used the two ziplines near the fifth button, cross the metal bridge to enter the building. Otherwise, simply enter the building and take the zipline to the top floor. Once inside, go into the only available room and turn left. You’ll find what you’re looking for on the floor behind the bed.
Player C is now up to button number 11, which is conveniently nearby. From here, things should start moving much faster as they get closer to finishing.
Ninth Button — Buried Properties
The button is usually located on a metal platform inside the dilapidated building closest to the highway, near where enemies appear. It’s between a damaged wall and a yellow transformer. While you’re there, you can also search the other containers nearby.
After that, Player A needs to go to the twelfth button located in Church Ruins. It’s fairly easy to get there by simply following the edge of the map.
Tenth Button — Hospital
The button is tricky to find! It’s hidden under the stairs in the stairwell on the ground floor of the hospital, near the metro entrance. Go into the stairwell and look underneath – you’ll find a large metal box. The button is located between the box and the stairs themselves.
Player B should now go to Piazza Roma to find the fourteenth button. It’s a good opportunity to collect items along the way.
Eleventh Button — Abandoned Highway
Starting from the eighth button, you’ll find a zipline that takes you up to where the highway connects with a rooftop. Ride the zipline, turn to face the pile of rubble, and head to the right. Look under the rubble – you should see the button there.
Player C has just one button remaining – number thirteen. You’re likely running out of time, so it might be best to hurry and try to win!
Simply get on the highway and follow it to the next exit. It will bring you near the next landmark.
Twelfth Button — Church Ruins
The button is located in an exposed and isolated spot. A section of the roof appears partially buried in sand, and a small pillar stands on it. The button is positioned right next to this pillar.
After that, Player A can head to the last button. If necessary, they could also reach the thirteenth player, but otherwise they can simply wait at the final location.
Thirteenth Button — Santa Marie Houses
When you’re inside the house, head up to the attic. Look for a brown dresser against one of the walls, and you’ll find a button next to it. Press the button to make sure it turns on.
That completes the button setup for Player C. Now, all that remains is to reach the final button. Player C can also go to the fourteenth button if needed.
Fourteenth Button — Piazza Roma
Near Piazza Roma, heading towards the Warehouse district, you’ll discover a tower. Inside is a single, crucial button that completes everything you need to do.
Everything is going smoothly now, so head to the final button. Just keep an eye on the clock! My team finished with about seven minutes remaining.
Final Button — Red Tower
The last button is located just outside the door, and it will unlock once all the other buttons have been pressed. By now, all the lights should be illuminated, and hopefully, your entire team has successfully reached this stage.
You’ve worked incredibly hard to get here, and success is within reach. Simply take the next step and claim your well-deserved reward.
Music Door Puzzle Rewards
This challenging puzzle room is filled with musical instruments. It might not have the valuable treasures some were expecting, but here’s what you’ll find:
- Guitars
- Flutes
- Shakers
Guitars are very rare in the game and can only be earned by finishing this challenge. However, the true reward isn’t the item itself, but the satisfaction of overcoming such a tough task in this shooter.
Future updates will probably uncover even more hidden information. Just be cautious when exploring the surface – since this is a solo game, you won’t likely meet anyone as helpful as my team and me.
