In the narrative of “Hell Is Us “, your journey will eventually lead you to serene Lake Cynon, surrounded by vibrant fields of blue blooms and breathtaking scenery. However, amidst this beauty lies a challenge – a puzzle involving five pillars, each bearing a distinct symbol. The catch is that the sequence in which you should strike these pillars isn’t immediately apparent. But with some exploration and assistance, you can uncover the correct solution. For those seeking a straightforward answer or tips on solving the Lake Cynon pillar puzzle in “Hell Is Us” on their own, I will walk you through it in this guide.
Once you’ve unlocked Pentos Algea’s tomb within the Watcher’s Nest, you’ll discover ‘The Blue Flower Map.’ This clue indicates your next destination and what to search for upon arrival. If you’re having trouble determining who to consult about these blue flowers, consider approaching Erroll Caddell at the game’s start; he may provide some insight and direct you towards Lake Cynon.
Lake Cynon Pillar Puzzle Solution in Hell Is Us

Upon arriving at Lake Cynon, locate the water basin enclosed by five pillars, situated to your left upon entering the zone. You’ll notice four pillars bordering the water basin, while one is positioned on a hill to your right when you face it. A post with an orange cap at the front of the pool bears a single symbol, but other slots are empty. To solve this riddle, seek out additional orange-capped posts in the nearby vicinity and strike the stone pillars in the sequence that corresponds to the symbols on those posts.
If you’re seeking just the solution and not interested in the backstory, here’s the sequence you should strike: Crown, Water Drop, Key, Star, Cup.
Start reading from the lowest symbol on each post, not the one at the front of the pool that seems like it should be the starting point. If you’re unsure, just follow what I did initially.
How to Find the Stone Pillar Symbol Order

The symbol posts can be found in the following locations around the pool of water in Lake Cynon:
- Symbol Post 1: Right in front of the pool itself. This gives us the final stone pillar we need to hit, the cup.
- Symbol Post 2: Head up the stairs to the right of the pool. It’s next to a picnic bench and has the second stone pillar’s symbol, the water drop.
- Symbol Post 3: Go up the hill from the second post and take the second left to find a broken symbol post. The other half of it on the floor doesn’t contain the symbol either, so we need to use the remaining posts to figure out the missing pillar symbol.
- Symbol Post 4: Take the path that leads behind the third post and continue following it around until you see the fourth in a similar spot on the other side of the gap from the third post. This one is also lying down, but face up. Take the path down to it to get the fourth pillar symbol, the star.
- Symbol Post 5: When facing the pool of water, take the path around the left and past where the fourth symbol post was. Continue left and look for the final symbol post on a small rocky hill to your left, which reveals the first pillar symbol, the crown.
Upon aligning the stone pillars in sequence, a hidden circular chamber emerges, unveiling a cogwheel on its reverse side behind the pool. Retrieve the miniature cogwheel from the concealed compartment and insert it into the mechanism to empty the water-filled pool, paving the path for your adventure ahead.
