How to Solve the Silenced Cathedral Artifact Puzzle in Soul Reaver

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the Artifact puzzle in the Silenced Cathedral from Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered has been one of the most challenging and satisfying puzzles I’ve ever encountered. The intricate design of the wall with its engraved images and missing sections reminded me of the good old days, when puzzle-solving was a crucial part of gaming experiences rather than an afterthought.

In Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver, there are numerous locations with tricky puzzles scattered throughout. Not every puzzle is essential, but tackling them offers intriguing incentives for players. The map reveals how many Artifacts can be discovered in each location. Some artifacts boost health, while others enhance energy levels.

On the walls, there are many carved pictures, and some lower parts appear hollowed out. This setup resembles another riddle they’ll find in the Silent Cathedral – the wall murals conundrum.

How to Get the Artifact in the Silenced Cathedral

Players may encounter an additional, optional challenge in the game, which they’ll find following the resolution of two previous puzzles that break glass barriers around certain switches. Upon locating a room containing a mysterious Artifact encased within glass, players will be presented with the opportunity to earn this intriguing artifact upon successful completion of the subsequent puzzle.

Through this transparent barrier lies a passageway leading to the room filled with puzzles. This gate is magical, allowing the player to pass through it without their physical body. On the other side, there are enemies waiting to be defeated and their energy absorbed to refill the player’s vitality. However, while in the Spirit World, players won’t be able to move any blocks. Instead, they should jump high from the center of the southern wall to reach a ledge above. This ledge will serve as a spot for players to re-enter the real world.

Before starting to arrange blocks on the wall, players might want to glance over the images first. The trumpeters are positioned closely together, while those with their hands raised to the sky wear long garments around their legs. This can aid players in identifying where to place a block. Players also have the option to switch between the original and the remastered version of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 to appreciate both versions visually.

The blocks might not always be oriented correctly and may require flipping to adjust. To set a block in the desired orientation, players should initially flip it so that the picture is on top, then stand on the opposite side from where they want the image to appear. Flipping the block will now make the image face the required side. If the image is upside down, players can move to either left or right of the image and rotate it by flipping the block again.

After all blocks are correctly arranged, four blocks at the top will drop down automatically. Perform the same process with these falling blocks and the glass container housing the artifact will unlock. To finish an emblem, players must gather a total of five artifacts; however, this task will also increase their overall stamina levels.
