Pokémon Legends: Z-A received a big update with the Mega Dimension DLC, but players sometimes have trouble figuring out how to begin the new content. It can be tricky to find where to start if you’re not sure what to do.
As a Pokémon fan, I’m so hyped for the Mega Dimension DLC for Pokémon Legends: Z-A! It’s bringing Hoopa and Zeraora into the game, which is amazing, but what really has me excited is that Pokémon can now go above level 100! That’s a first for any Pokémon game, and I can’t wait to train them up!

Do You Need to Complete PokémonLegends: Z-A to Start Mega Dimension DLC?

You’ll need to finish the main story of Pokémon Legends: Z-A before you can play the Mega Dimension DLC, but you don’t have to complete everything in the base game to access it.
You need to finish the main story in Legends: Z-A before you can start the Mega Dimension expansion. The game will clearly indicate when you’ve reached the point of no return in the story, letting you know you’re ready to begin the Mega Dimension DLC.
While not required to finish the main story of Legends: Z-A, completing side quests and catching legendary and mythical Pokémon after the game’s ending can give you an advantage in the Mega Dimension, but aren’t strictly necessary.
How to Start Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension DLC
So, I downloaded the newest update and got the DLC, and when I started the game, a message popped up telling me there’s a new side quest waiting for me on top of Hotel Z! I’m excited to check it out.
Okay, so to get things started, you need to fast travel to Hotel Z and go inside. Then, find the elevator and take it all the way up to the roof. Once it loads, you’ll get a cool cutscene where you meet Ansha and Hoopa – it’s how the story really kicks off!
Ansha needs Team MZ to make a donut for Hoopa, and your first task is to get some butter from the Baker’s Stall in Magenta Sector 6. The easiest way to get there is by fast traveling to the Nouveau Cafe (Truck No. 3) and then walking a short distance.
Next, you’ll face a double battle against Grisham and Tarragon, each with a team of three Pokémon. After winning, head back to Hotel Z and talk to Ansha. You’ll get to choose a donut to bake, which will give you helpful boosts. Since this is your first time, the specific donut you pick isn’t crucial.
Go to the location marked on the map near the Saison Canal – the Justice Dojo fast travel point will get you there quickly. Step through the glowing portal you find, then just follow the on-screen directions to begin your Mega Dimension adventure!
