In Dying Light: The Beast, players have many ways to battle zombies and mercenaries. While Kyle Crane’s new, infection-based abilities are a major focus, he can still use all the skills and weapons from the original Dying Light, including guns, melee weapons, dropkicks, and weapon throws.
Throwing melee weapons in *Dying Light: The Beast* isn’t as straightforward as it was in the original game. The game doesn’t explain how to do it, so if you’ve managed to throw a weapon before, you might not know *how* you did it. Here’s a simple guide to help you throw your knives, clubs, and other weapons at enemies.
Dying Light: The Beast – Weapon Throw Controls
Similar to *Dying Light 2*, this game lets you throw weapons by powering up a strong attack and then pressing a dedicated button. That button changes depending on the weapon, but here’s a quick guide based on how you control the game:
- Mouse/Keyboard: Hold LMB, then press F.
- Controllers: Hold R2/RT, then click the right thumbstick.
Pressing a specific button combination makes Kyle throw his melee weapon at the target he’s aiming at. Just so you know, you can’t throw guns in *Dying Light: The Beast*, but you *can* throw two-handed weapons like axes and sledgehammers.
How to Use Throwables in Dying Light: The Beast
To use throwable items like grenades or throwing knives, you need to first equip them in the Gadgets section of your Inventory. Then, press the button you’ve assigned to that Gadget slot to ready and throw them.
On a computer, you can switch between your equipped gadgets by pressing the ‘1’ key. If you’re using a controller, simply press Left on the D-pad to cycle through them. Once you’ve chosen the gadget you want, use the Middle Mouse Button on PC or the L1/LB button on a controller to activate it. Remember, you can’t pick up most thrown items like throwing knives after you use them.
While throwable items get used up quickly, they can be really effective when used strategically. Even something simple like a Decoy can save you in a pinch if timed correctly. Molotov cocktails are cheap to make and deal a lot of damage to tough enemies, but you’ll have to decide early on whether to prioritize crafting them or healing supplies, as they require Rags and Alcohol.
