In Mewgenics, as your cat army gets stronger, you’ll be able to explore areas further from home. These new locations have harder enemies and unique challenges, but they aren’t always easy to reach. This guide will show you how to unlock all the acts and areas in Mewgenics, letting you experience everything this quirky, cat-filled game has to offer.
Unlocking All Acts and Areas in Mewgenics
Here’s a list of what you need to do to unlock each area in Mewgenics. Most areas are unlocked simply by progressing through the game, but some hidden areas require a bit more work – specifically, defeating the bosses in each house.
| Act/ Area | Unlock Requirements |
|---|---|
| The Alley | Unlocked at the start of the game. |
| The Sewers | Complete a run in The Alley. |
| The Caves | Complete a run in The Sewers. |
| The Junkyard | Complete the ‘hard branch’ of The Alley. |
| The Boneyard | Complete a run in The Junkyard. |
| The Throbbing Domain (Secret) | You need to take the Throbbing Gristle from Guillotina’s first boss fight to the Wall of Flesh in the caves, and the Putrid Leach from Guillotina’s second fight to the Throbbing Artery in The Boneyard. Fight Guillotina for a third time to get her head. Equip this to one of your cats and then go to the altar in The Throbbing Domain. Sacrifice the cat with Guillotina’s head equipped. |
| Desert | Complete runs in The Boneyard and The Caves. |
| The Bunker | Complete a run in The Desert |
| The Core | Complete a run in The Bunker. |
| The Crater | Complete a run in The Desert. |
| The Moon | Complete a run in The Crater. |
| The Rift (Secret) | After clearing runs on The Moon and The Core, you’ll meet Pyrophina and Zaratana. After defeating each of those, you need to take the Burning Orb from Pyrophina and feed it to The Man on the Moon by having a cat hold it and stand in front of the boss. The Shard you get from Zaratana needs charging by killing 20 enemies with it equipped. Then take this to the Coven on the Core and use the Shard on it to insta-kill it. This will cause both Pyrophina and Zaratana to return to your house. This time, they’re battling one another as giant versions of themselves. Once one is defeated, you’ll get a collar of the surviving boss. For Pyrophina’s collar, take it to the obelisk at the end of the Moon, while Zaratana’s collar needs to go to the Core obelisk. After doing so, you’ll unlock the Rift. |
| The Lab | Complete runs in The Core and The Moon. |
| Ice Age | Complete a run in The Lab. |
| The Future | Complete a run in The Lab. |
| The Jurassic | Complete a run in Ice Age |
| The End | Complete a run in The Future |
| The Infinite | Complete runs in The Jurassic and The End. |
You can finish the game without exploring The Throbbing Domain and The Rift, but completing these areas offers enjoyable challenges and a rewarding side quest that will test your abilities.
Getting far in this game takes a long time. Because the difficulty can’t be adjusted, and runs can be unpredictable, even completing a single area can be quite time-consuming, particularly if you start running out of cats.
