How to Unlock All Characters in Super Meat Boy 3D

In Super Meat Boy 3D, you can unlock new characters by finding Bandages, discovering hidden levels, and completing challenges for completionists. These aren’t just cosmetic changes – each character has different stats like speed, weight, and jump height, as well as unique abilities, like a double jump. This means each character changes how you play a level, and certain characters might be better suited for collecting Bandages or getting A+ times on specific stages.

You can switch between characters on the map by using the button shown at the bottom of your screen.

The Best Characters In Super Meat Boy 3D

Here’s a look at the top characters in Super Meat Boy 3D, chosen to help you beat every level, earn perfect scores, and collect all the Bandages. You unlock the first two characters quickly, so they’re helpful for a large portion of the game.

Ed

  • Unlocked: 10 Bandages
  • Ability: Fast with long jumps

Ed is a long jumper who excels at speedrunning levels that require a lot of running and large jumps – he’s similar to Super Meat Boy, but generally better in those situations. He’s simple to control, though his height can sometimes be a problem, causing him to hit his head.

Skeleton Boy

  • Unlocked: 15 Bandages
  • Ability: Light and fast

Because Skeleton Boy is so light, he’s incredibly fast and agile in the air. He can cover large distances by jumping and dashing, even skipping parts of levels. His light weight also lets him change direction easily while falling, making him zip around quickly and effortlessly.

The main weakness of Skeleton Boy is his limited jump height, which prevents him from clearing certain obstacles. While you can often work around this by jumping around objects, there are a few levels where a different character is a better choice.

In Super Meat Boy 3D, you can unlock the characters Ed and Skeleton Boy quickly by collecting all 15 Forest Bandages.

Nate

  • Unlocked: 40 Bandages
  • Ability: Double jump

Some characters gain the ability to double jump as you progress, but Nate, available from the third world onwards by collecting Bandages, has the highest and most useful double jump.

Although he isn’t very quick, Nate can use double jumps to bypass obstacles or even sections of a level. If you’re having trouble finishing a level, he’s the simplest character to choose.
