Transformations in Chapter 1

Red Tides

Transforming into Guangzhi, the fire-wielding warrior, becomes accessible to you following your victory over him in the Forest of Wolves and acquisition of his weapon, the Red Tides. In this form, the Destined One can perform light attacks that build focus and charge attacks that ignite foes. Once the focus meter is filled, a heavy attack after evading will trigger one of Guangzhi’s potent special moves, depleting the meter.

Your journey towards Ashen Slumber starts in Chapter 2, however, it is only achievable when you advance to Chapter 3 and reach the Pagoda Realm. Following the conclusion of the Rat Prince’s storyline, you will find the opportunity to obtain this spell from a corpse in the Pagoda Realm.

In this game, the special ability “Ashen Slumber” enables the Chosen One to metamorphose into a Rat Guai, armed with both sword and fire. After discovering a secret chamber in Chapter 2 that contains one of the scales, your journey continues with defeating all three bosses. Once they are vanquished, Yellow Loong will emerge in Chapter 4 near the Ruins of the Fallen Loong Shrine. Overcoming Yellow Loong and obtaining its weapon will grant you access to Golden Lining.

Golden Lining grants players the ability to transform into a Yellow Loong, offering protection against shock and equipping them with a blade of lightning for various slashing attacks. In place of regular attacks, they perform charging strikes, while Variable Combos allow them to anticipate incoming attacks (much like Smash and Thrust Stance) and accumulate focus. When focused, their heavy attack transforms into a jumping lightning strike that can be repeated up to three times in succession.

Violet Hail

In Chapter 4’s hidden locale, Purple Cloud Mountain, you can discover Violet Hail. Daoist Mi will assign you a mission to gather a specific item named “Celestial Orb”. If you manage to locate this orb (which may drop from enemies in this area), return it to Daoist Mi, and he’ll challenge you to a boss battle. Successfully defeating Daoist Mi rewards you with the prized Violet Hail.

In this scenario, Violet Hail alters the Chosen One into a creature called Worm Guai. This new form allows it to coat its weapon with eggs, which it can expend for the hatching larvae to burrow into enemy wounds, causing harm over time. The character can employ the Hive Mind Spell to explode these larvae and inflict further damage. Additionally, Worm Guai has the ability to self-destruct, dealing area-effect damage while reverting back to normal, and simultaneously detonating any larvae currently embedded in enemies. As an extra perk, the Violet Hail transformation makes the user resistant to poison.

Transformations in Chapter 5

In Chapter 5, you’ll discover just one transformation, which marks the climax of a journey that originates in Chapter 1. This journey can be quite perilous and may not always lead to success.

Dark Thunder

The Transformation is obtained when you complete the Horse Guai Quest, which begins in Chapter 1 and Concludes in Chapter 5. This makes it one of the easiest transformations to miss since failing to trigger all of Ma Tianba’s dialog in each of his appearances will make the quest impossible to complete.

Once you’ve finished Horse Guai’s mission by engaging with the damaged wagon in Chapter 5, you’ll be granted the Dark Thunder metamorphosis.
