In the various escapades of Final Fantasy 14, players have traversed vast regions of Eorzea and Tural during each expansion. Yet, only a handful of these journeys ventured into outer space. The thrilling narrative of Endwalker whisked the Heroes of Light to the moon and acquainted them with the quirky Loporrits. Concluding that tale, though, left few compelling reasons for revisiting due to lack of new content.
But with the advent of Cosmic Exploration in Final Fantasy 14, things have shifted quite a bit. If you’re eager to venture back into space, it would be wise to familiarize yourself with the essentials required for your journey.
What Is Cosmic Exploration In Final Fantasy 14?
In Final Fantasy XIV, Cosmic Exploration represents a distinctive player-driven content genre that takes cues from past game installments like The Firmament and Island Sanctuary. It encourages players to embark on an exciting journey through the unexplored cosmos by utilizing crafting and gathering jobs to establish campsites across various celestial bodies, commencing with the recognizable terrain of Mare Lamentorum.
As a gamer, I can help advance the base-building process on each star by finishing stellar missions, Mech Ops, Cosmic Exploration Project FATEs, and various other tasks. In return, I’ll earn EXP for my selected jobs (if they aren’t already max level) and also acquire two unique currencies – Lunar Credits and Cosmocredits. These can be exchanged for a variety of rewards like furnishings, mounts, minions, and more!
In addition to various other kinds of content like Custom Deliveries, Cosmic Exploration offers an engaging, simple, and extremely productive method to enhance your crafting and gathering professions, making them more accessible for every player.
How To Unlock Cosmic Exploration In Final Fantasy 14

In order to join the journey of Cosmic Exploration, it’s crucial to keep in mind two primary goals that should be addressed.
To begin with, it’s essential that you finish the Main Story Questline (MSQ) associated with the “Endwalker” expansion, as some of its areas are necessary for this particular content, and you’ll only have access to them after completing at least one region in the expansion.
To proceed further, ensure that you have a character who specializes in crafting (often called a Disciple of Hand) or gathering (Disciple of Land), and this character should be at level 10 or above. Since the experience points required to reach such levels are relatively small, it won’t take much time if you haven’t achieved this yet.
After ensuring that all necessary conditions are met, make your way to Old Sharlayan and seek out a Loporrit called Namingway who is located at coordinates X:12.6, Y:13.6. Approach them with the job you wish to pursue as either a crafter or gatherer equipped, and they will offer you the ‘A Cosmic Homecoming’ quest.

Travel to Mare Lamentorum and connect with Namingway at coordinates (X:8.5, Y:35.8), situated south of Sinus Lacrimarum’s aetheryte. They will guide you back to Bestways Burrow, where heartwarming scenes of reunions with other Loporrits await, including Searchingway. At some point during this journey, Searchingway will disclose their ambitious vision called the Cosmic Exploration Initiative and extend an invitation for you to join them on this exciting adventure.
Later on, head over to Drivingway close by, who will guide you and Namingway using a moon rover towards the Moongate Hub, commonly referred as Sinus Ardorum. This is where your journey begins and serves as the operational center. As you continue conversing with the Loporrits, they’ll grant you time to explore the base and discover all its features.

At the culmination of your journey, you’ll receive a “Cosmic Starter Chest”, containing a cosmic prototype tool tailored to your current job. With each advance in the goals of Cosmic Exploration, you’ll have the opportunity to enhance your prototype weapon.
Remember, even though you have the ‘Stellar Return’ feature on your HUD for moving within Sinus Ardorum itself, if you wish to get back there from other parts of the game, you’ll need to talk to Drivingway again in Bestways Burrow.
