MIO: Memories in Orbit is a brand new Metroidvania game developed by Douze Dixièmes. It takes place in a detailed and atmospheric science fiction universe, and its large map is full of secrets, hidden locations, and challenging bosses for players to discover.
To fully explore the map and experience everything MIO offers, you’ll need a few essential tools, and fast travel is one of the most important.
Okay, so MIO doesn’t exactly tell you how to fast travel, which was a little frustrating at first! It’s something you have to discover on your own. But if you’re like me and still haven’t figured it out, don’t worry – I’ve got you covered!
This guide explains how to unlock fast travel in the game, making it much easier to get around the large and complex map. Before you can fast travel, you’ll need to complete a few steps, and this guide will walk you through them.
What Allows Fast Travel

To quickly travel around the world of MIO: Memories in Orbit, you’ll need to find and activate the attunement gates. Once you’ve attuned to enough of them, a new fast travel option called Overseer Pathways will become available.
Overseer Pathways act as links between each attunement gate and the main game world. Without these connections, you won’t be able to quickly travel between locations.
So, in MIO, fast travel isn’t just automatically available. I have to unlock each location first! Basically, I need to explore the world and progress through the story to create connections between places. Until I do that, zipping around the map is a no-go. I gotta connect everything before I can actually fast travel anywhere.
How To Unlock Fast Travel Locations
Okay, so linking the gate to the network is a step, but don’t expect it to magically fix all my fast travel problems. Honestly, if there’s no Overseer to connect all the gates together, fast travel just isn’t happening. It’s like, the Overseer is the key to actually using the network.
To unlock fast travel, you’ll need to locate Overseers hidden around the game world. Even if you don’t find them, you can still use attunement gates to improve your character, but finding the Overseers will allow you to get the most out of those gates.

Rescuing an Overseer and returning it to its attunement gate will link that gate to a wider network. This connection will make it much easier to travel between different places on the map.
Overseers can be found in many different places around the world. Some are tucked away in hidden spots, and you’ll need advanced skills like wall climbing and gliding to get to them later in the game.
You’ll discover some Overseers as you progress through the story, but many are hidden. Exploring every corner of MIO’s world is important because finding these Overseers unlocks fast travel, making it much easier to get around.
