The skills Lightning Surge and Lightning Level 1 are initially locked, even if you have plenty of Abyss Artifacts. To unlock these lightning-based abilities in Crimson Desert, you need to complete the Courtyard of Precision, which is a puzzle located in the Abyss, specifically within the Spire of the Stars.
Okay, so I’m going to walk you through getting Lightning in Crimson Desert. Basically, you start by unlocking the Spire of Stars, then you have to make your way through the Secret Garden and the Vault of Vengeance. It’s a bit of a journey! Finally, you’ll end up at the Courtyard of Precision, which is a tricky puzzle you need to solve to actually get it.
How to Unlock Lightning in Crimson Desert
- Lightning Surge and the Lightning Elemental Imbuement Skills are unlocked through the Courtyard of Precision.
- The Courtyard of Precision is an Abyss Puzzle that starts from the Spire of the Stars, which unlocks in Chapter 4 through the Scholastone Institute (southwest on the map in Hernand).
- After reaching the Abyss from the Spire of the Stars, you will need to complete the Secret Garden and Vault of Vengeance Abyss puzzles (we have guides for all three of these puzzles, so click the links to get a full walkthrough).
- Finally, you’ll reach the Courtyard of Precision, where you can find the step-by-step walkthrough below.
Okay, so I’ve heard the Courtyard of Precision can be tricky, but it’s totally doable if you’re prepared! You’ll definitely want to level up your Spirit and Focused Shot skills beforehand. And trust me, bring a bow with lots of arrows – seriously, stock up! With those things covered, the puzzle should be pretty easy, honestly.
How to Complete the Courtyard of Precision in Crimson Desert
- Once you arrive at the Courtyard of Precision, you can face north to find 5 shaes, with 3 of them blue, and two of them yellow.
- The objective is to shoot the yellow shapes at the same time to turn them blue.
- Use Focused Shot (Hold L2 then click L3+R3, then mark your targets with R1, and let go of L2).
- Mark the yellow targets to shoot them at the same time, and then repeat the process on all four sides.
- In the middle of the room, there is now an activated fan, which you can use your wings (Square) to fly up to the top.
- When you reach the top, hold L2 to activate slow-motion as you aim your bow and mark the yellow targets again.
- Faster reaction times are needed for this part, as you only have a small window to fire your arrows.
- You will only be able to shoot your arrows in Focused Shot if you’re above the targets, so make sure they’re aligned and firing before you pass the targets.
- Once you’ve shot the three targets on the first circle and the next three targets on the second circle, the Abyss panel will activate in the north area.
- Land on the ground and use Force Palm on the Abyss panel to activate the Abyss Gate.
Once the Abyss Gate opens, you’ll instantly gain access to Lightning and Lightning Surge. You can then proceed through the gate to the next puzzle and collect an Abyss Artifact.
