Elden Ring Nightreign represents a significant shift from the aesthetic of its predecessor. Unlike previous titles, this game, classified as a roguelike, boasts the longest return journey to a boss ever created by FromSoftware. Unlike past games that emphasized exploration and environmental narratives,
Despite some changes, the classic elements that made the games memorable are still present in Nightreign. Although they may be a bit less obvious than before, including gestures and Prattling Pate’s reappear in this version. Here’s a guide on how to activate them and potentially increase their number.
How To Use Gestures
In the initial version of Elden Ring, a specialized gestures section was available within the primary menu, accessible at any time. You could assign up to six gestures for easy access. However, with Nightreign’s overhaul of many UI and equipment aspects, the way we interact with gestures has been adjusted as well.
To clarify, accessing the main menu now requires simply pressing Triangle/Y, and this action will display the entire gestures menu, which encompasses all of your Prattling Pates as well. Although you can no longer assign them to shortcuts, navigating to them has become quicker than previously due to this streamlined process.
How To Unlock More Gestures
Instead of discovering additional gestures as you progress through Nightreign like in the original Elden Ring, each gesture is purchasable rather than unlocked. This means that while there are no obscure or missable tasks required to obtain new gestures, you will need to spend Murk, which is obtained from the Small Jar Bazaar.
In the game Nightreign, the Small Jar Bazaar serves as the unique source for obtaining additional gestures and Prattling Pates. This acquisition is permanent, allowing you unlimited use of these gestures without worrying about losing them. While Nightreign is generally a challenging Roguelike, having these persistent gestures softens the experience somewhat.
In addition to their usual role, gestures can influence gameplay when using the Night of the Demon Relic. This is because the Crossed Legs gesture tends to increase Madness at a swift pace.
