How to Unlock Murderer and Victim Trophy in Alan Wake 2: The Lake House

As a seasoned Remedy fan with a soft spot for intricate storylines and interconnected universes, I can confidently say that The Lake House DLC in Alan Wake 2 is a treat for us enthusiasts! The subtle references to Control, another masterpiece by the same creators, only serve to deepen the immersion and foster a sense of continuity across their works.

As a devoted fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about delving into the Lake House DLC of the upcoming Alan Wake 2, particularly because it promises to connect Estevez’s arrival in Bright Falls with his encounter with Saga Anderson. Yet, what truly captivates me is the abundance of hidden secrets nestled within the FBC facility at Cauldron Lake. If you’ve previously experienced Control, you might pick up on familiar names and references scattered throughout the documents and files found within the Lake House.

In essence, much of what’s presented here expands the lore of the Remedy Connected Universe. However, there’s a particular aspect that might be interpreted as a hint for an upcoming game called Control 2, similar to how the Quantum Break trailer foreshadowed Alan Wake 2. To uncover this mystery, you should strive to achieve or unlock the “Murderer and Victim” trophy/achievement, which can be quite elusive.

Minor spoilers below, proceed with caution.

To earn this achievement/trophy, you need to progress to Sublevel 4, which is close to the end of the DLC expansion. Once you’ve navigated through the labyrinth and defeated both The Painted and The Taken, you will find an office in the center of the current area. Move towards the control panel on its left side and operate it to switch off the lights. Turning off the lights triggers an elevator that descends to Sublevel 5; however, for now, refrain from going down there.

Instead, proceed to the office and search for three sketches dispersed throughout the room. Two are found on the floor, while the third is placed on the table alongside the projector. Upon encountering the first sketch, Estevez will express her belief that its style appears different from the other artwork previously seen at the Lake House.

After engaging with each of the three sketches, a light switch cord will materialize centrally within the room. Much like in the game “Control“, you must tug the cord thrice in succession to advance to the subsequent section.

You’ll find yourself navigating to a place you recognize from the game “Control.” Walk along the hallway until you reach a spacious room. In the center of this space is a holding cell with someone inside. Continue conversing with this person until you set off a cutscene. Once that happens, you’ll earn the achievement/trophy and be transported back to the office where you discovered the drawings.
