Unlike most games of its type, you don’t automatically have access to the parry feature in Code Vein 2. It’s not something your character knows how to do from the beginning, unlike dodging. So, if you’re finding it difficult, that explains why!
In Code Vein 2, parrying isn’t available right away. It’s tied to a shield you can find early on, but unlocking the parry ability itself requires a specific, and somewhat hidden, action. This design choice is a bit unusual for a game inspired by the Souls series, and it means many players could complete the entire game without ever discovering parrying.
How To Unlock Parry Ability In Code Vein 2
In Code Vein 2, you’ll need the Mutinous Bracer to successfully parry attacks. You can get it by trading with a particular character in the game.
So, pretty early on in the game, you hit this town called MagMell, and it’s packed with characters from the present day. I quickly learned I could chat with my teammates to get extra quests, and even build up our relationships by giving them gifts. It’s a cool way to get to know everyone better and unlock more content!
You can find the training grounds on the left side of the mansion, close to the teleport area. Right before you enter the training grounds, near the stairs, you’ll meet one of Jadwiga’s Minions. Talk to him to get the Mutinous Bracer.
How To Use The Mutinous Bracer & Parry In Code Vein 2
Put on the Mutinous Bracer, then press L1 (or the corresponding button on your gaming system) to try and parry an attack.
Remember that using this costs two Ichor, so be careful not to run out, especially when fighting bosses.
Timing is key in Code Vein 2. The parry animation has a small delay, so you’ll likely get hit a few times while you’re learning how to use it effectively. However, if you parry successfully, it will stun the enemy briefly, creating an opening for a strong counterattack.
