In any Mario Kart game, Rainbow Road is essential, so it’s only fitting that Mario Kart World boasts the longest and widest version of this iconic track yet. But here’s the twist: in Mario Kart World, Rainbow Road isn’t immediately accessible; instead, players must work hard to unlock it by conquering other tracks.
Fortunately, getting Rainbow Road isn’t a difficult feat in Mario Kart World, as players are rewarded not only with the iconic Rainbow Road but also an entire hidden Special Cup filled with four thrilling races waiting to be conquered. Enjoy the adrenaline rush as you compete!
How to Unlock the Special Cup & Rainbow Road in Mario Kart World

To gain access to Rainbow Road, players initially need to finish every one of the 7 Cups in the Grand Prix area of Mario Kart World. It’s not necessary to win on a particular CC or come in first place for these cups. Instead, simply ensure that all four tracks within each cup are successfully completed. This amounts to finishing the following cups and their corresponding tracks (totaling 28 tracks):
1. Cup A Tracks 1-4
2. Cup B Tracks 5-8
3. Cup C Tracks 9-12
4. Cup D Tracks 13-16
5. Cup E Tracks 17-20
6. Cup F Tracks 21-24
7. Cup G Tracks 25-28
| Cup | Tracks |
|---|---|
| Mushroom Cup |

| Flower Cup |
|
| Star Cup |

| Shell Cup |

Upon finishing all the Grand Prix Cups (irrespective of their positions), players will unveil a hidden cutscene which subsequently unlocks the Special Cup that encompasses Rainbow Road as one of its races. This exclusive version of Rainbow Road is specifically designed for Mario Kart World, serving as the finale for the Special Cup. Players are allowed to race on any of the four tracks from the Special Cup outside of the Grand Prix, but there’s no bonus for completing the Special Cup, not even if players claim victory in every race at 150CC. Nevertheless, here’s a sneak peek at the tracks featured in the Special Cup:
- Acorn Heights
- Mario Circuit
- Peach Stadium
- Rainbow Road
