How To Unlock Skills And Increase Skill Capacity In Nioh 3

Okay, so in Nioh 3, leveling up your skills is seriously important – it should be one of the first things you focus on. They give you awesome new abilities for fighting, but also act like permanent buffs that are always working. Luckily, unlocking them isn’t too hard. As long as I’ve got the Secret Texts to actually learn a skill, and enough Memorandums to increase how many skills I can have equipped, I’m good to go!

How To Unlock Skills In Nioh 3

In Nioh 3, you can unlock three skill types: Common, Samurai, and Ninja. Samurai skills are for the Samurai fighting style, Ninja skills are for the Ninja style, and Common skills can be used by both. To learn new skills, players need to find Secret Skills Texts hidden throughout the game world.

The abilities you unlock in the Shrine’s Skill Management area work automatically as ongoing bonuses – you don’t have to manually activate them.

Secret Skills Text is hidden throughout the game, sometimes even on the bodies of Amrita. These bodies are often protected by obstacles like Crucible Spikes, which require players to defeat enemy waves before they can break through and reach them.

As you explore, you’ll find chests – often large and red – that unlock special abilities called Secret Skills. These chests are typically guarded by a Wraith, or hidden inside Enemy Bases or the Dark Realm.

How To Increase Skill Capacity In Nioh 3

The more potential you have in a skill area, the more skills you can actually use. Each skill category has a separate limit, and you need a specific request to raise that limit.

Like Secret Skill Texts, Memorandums and Texts are typically found in chests or obtained by looting enemies. Collecting enough of these items will allow you to increase your capacity by praying at a Shrine or Boddhisatva Statue.

You can consistently obtain Memorandums by trading Yokai Teardrops with the shopkeeper. Every four Memorandums you collect will increase your skill capacity by one. Different types of Memorandums affect different skills: Samurai and Ninja Memorandums expand the skills within their specific classes, while the Warrior Memorandum increases capacity for Common Skills.

Besides the stuff you get from the Memorandum, I can also learn new skills from the friendly yokai if I collect enough Yokai Teardrops. Basically, if I grind for those teardrops, I can unlock even more abilities!

It’s important to continue improving your skills, as many of them require a significant investment – sometimes six to eight points, or even more – before they become active.

Players can collect Yokai Teardrops by defeating tough enemies, including Kappas, relaxing in hot springs, or interacting with friendly yokai like Scampuss, among other methods.

Kappa are mythical turtle-like creatures known for their shells and tendency to flee rather than fight. Overcoming one can bring significant rewards.
