As a seasoned adventurer who has traversed countless dungeons and defeated formidable foes, I must say that the Abandoned Tomb in Metaphor: ReFantazio presents an intriguing twist with its boss encounter – Trove Imitec. This colossal mimic is as cunning as it is terrifying, but fear not! With a well-crafted party composition, you’ll have this giant under control faster than you can say “Cuculus.
People who are acquainted with Atlus’ turn-based RPGs understand their emphasis on the impact of buffs and debuffs; Metaphor: ReFantazio, similarly, doesn’t shy away from this aspect.

Enhancing your allies’ power or diminishing your foes’ strength – or a mix of both – often determines the result of a conflict, and it is here that the Faker Archetype truly excels.
In the game ‘Metaphor: ReFantazio’, the Faker Archetype serves as my primary debuffing character. However, this character also functions as a joker, as one of its skills can either boost or completely eliminate Turn Icons, adding an element of surprise to my gameplay.
As a seasoned gamer in the realm of turn-based RPGs, I’ve come to realize that luck, in its own unique way, is as much a skill as any other. It was during a heart-to-heart with a follower when the protagonist put it so eloquently. Having a Faker by your side can tip the scales decisively – from a glorious victory to a crushing defeat hanging over your head like a shadow.
Prerequisites For Unlocking the Faker Archetype
Once you’ve mastered the art of teleportation from the Gauntlet Runner, you’ll be ready to start uncovering the Faker Archetype within Martira.
After that, make your way towards Thoroughfare Square and encounter the man known as Pompous Man, who is located southward on your map. As you arrive, an automatic cutscene will play out, and one of the NPCs (Non-Player Characters) will sneakily snatch Grius’s treasured Keepsake.
As an avid enthusiast, I’d be more than happy to assist you, but do ensure you possess a minimum of two points in your Imagination attribute. If you find yourself lacking in this area, fear not! The captivating game “Metaphor: ReFantazio” offers numerous methods to boost your Imagination skills.
One effective method to stimulate your imagination could be by immersing yourself in a continuing narrative as you read “New World Travel Diary” on your Gauntlet Runner, or by fulfilling More’s tasks.
If you choose to bring the book along, consider reading it simultaneously as you work towards uncovering the Gunner Archetype. This way, you’ll be achieving two goals at once.
As a fervent enthusiast, when engaging in conversation with the self-important individual known as Cuculus, I’m then tasked with embarking on an exhilarating new journey. The game conveniently highlights the location of my upcoming destination – the Abandoned Tomb – on the map for me, making it easier to navigate towards this intriguing mystery.
How to Prepare for the Abandoned Tomb
Before heading to the Abandoned Tomb, make sure to unlock the Merchant Archetype, as its skills will make your journey significantly easier.
According to the information provided, it seems that foes within the dungeon tend to be drawn towards wealth. These particular enemies are referred to as Pyrite Imitecs, which might ring a bell for you as they resemble the mimic creatures found in various Role-Playing Games (RPGs).
Trust us, the Abandoned Tomb is teeming with these dreadful creatures. To swiftly eliminate them, keep using the Merchant’s Gold Attack skill frequently. Even though it consumes 500 gold instead of MP, this skill can shorten a monster’s turn count.
Apart from the Gold Raid, the Merchant’s standard attack is a Strike-based one, which is particularly effective against the common skeletal warrior minions encountered within the Deserted Tomb, due to their vulnerability.
In your party composition, it’s crucial to include a Merchant Archetype, or even multiple ones, as they are key for navigating the dungeon. Additionally, we advise having a character with inherited Hama magic in your group because both mimics and liches are susceptible to light, but healers are vulnerable to the mimics’ attacks.
Exploring the Deserted Tomb may require some careful maneuvering, given the numerous nooks and crannies. However, Gallica’s Fae Vision should be more than capable of resolving any puzzles that arise. If a chamber appears disjointed from the layout on your map, it probably hides a secret passage.
After Heismay has joined your group, we recommend exploring the Abandoned Tomb. Utilizing the Steal ability from the Thief Archetype on treasure chest creatures will always net you a valuable item called Blessed Water. This item is crucial for cleansing your equipment.
How To Prepare for the Trove Imitec Boss Fight
In contrast to other dungeons within “Metaphor: ReFantazio”, the Abandoned Tomb takes an unusual approach by placing its boss encounter smack-dab in the middle instead of at the end. As you delve deeper into this tomb, you’ll stumble upon a save point in the form of a feline named Plateau. Not long after, a colossal chest catches your eye in the next room, and you can bet your boots that a formidable foe awaits!
In simpler terms, Trove Imitec, our boss, operates much like a larger version of its kind, employing similar methods and sharing the same vulnerabilities as its smaller counterparts.
As a devoted enthusiast, I can confidently say that having a Merchant as part of your team and an Archetype wielding Hama will make any upcoming battle feel like a gentle breeze. Here’s the breakdown for optimal party configuration:
- A Merchant Archetype, if that wasn’t clear from the start.
- A Healer, but only defending or casting Hama to hit the boss’s weakness if the extra turn is critical.
- A Seeker to cast the Synthesis skill Rider of the Blade in combination with the Healer to deal heavy damage and secure more turns.
- The last Archetype can be whatever you like, but we recommend a Thief because you can steal a Crescent Medal, a valuable accessory that regenerates MP passively each turn.
With the “Merchant’s Gold Assault,” conquering Trove Imitec should feel like a leisurely stroll. Notably, the boss possesses two “Turn Indicators”; one of them is consistently utilized for gathering alms, rendering it essentially useless in combat.
If you have a character with healing abilities (Healer), the enemy leader might unleash a Punishing Blow, targeting the weak spot of your Healer, granting an additional turn. To protect your Healer, consider employing defensive commands during the battle.
In a somewhat simpler context, you could say that the Healer mainly assists the Seeker in combining their abilities, which then enables the Warrior with the Sword to inflict substantial harm.
If you implement these tactics successfully and manage to score some crucial strikes, the boss could barely survive for two rounds at most. However, if the Healer begins disrupting your progress, it would be wise to eliminate them, take control of Hama’s abilities instead, and then primarily rely on Gold Attacks for success.
Rewards For Defeating Trove Imitec
Following your triumph, you will be rewarded with a substantial amount of experience, Archetype experience, MAG, some cash, and a bottle of Graced Water. Additionally, you will gain access to a key that won’t appear in your inventory but can be used to open sealed walls.
Feel free to carry on your exploration, but remember, the spot you’re aiming for – the wall – is situated quite close to the entryway. It has been specifically identified on your map by a brightly gleaming mark.
In the town of Martira, engage in conversation with Cuculus. Following the scene, you will finish the “A Dagger, a Ring, and a Rake” quest, and receive these rewards as a result:
- x1 Grius’s Memento
- +4 Courage Virtue
- 15,000 Money
In the revelation, Cuculus unmasks himself as Alonzo, thus paving the way for a fresh alliance. This momentous event will ultimately disclose the genuine personality that was previously concealed under the Faker persona.
Just like Alonzo, who causes trouble for swindlers with his eloquence, you can now create chaos on the battlefield using Faker’s debilitating abilities and unpredictable skills.
