How to Unlock the Map in StarRupture

StarRupture is a challenging survival game where you begin with very little. You’ll need to quickly gather essential resources like Wolfram Ore and Calcium just to stay alive.

At the beginning of the game, the map isn’t working – when you try to open it, nothing appears, and you can’t see where you are. How can this be fixed?

Here’s a guide to unlocking the map in StarRupture and finding your way around. It’ll help you discover locations and easily figure out where you are.

How to Unlock the Map

In StarRupture, you’ll quickly need to learn some essential skills. A key one is finding water – your character needs it to survive!

If you’re new to StarRupture, you might find the map a little confusing at first. Unlike many games, there isn’t a map available right away. You’ll need to explore and learn the locations of important things yourself until you unlock the map through a computer terminal later in the game.

To gain favor with the ruling corporation and receive their support for survival and exploration, you must supply them with resources and materials.

You can obtain the map by reaching level three with the Moon Energy Corporation. After that, simply claim it through the terminal to unlock it.

Okay, so if I want to level up with the Moon Energy Corporation, I’ve got two options. I can either grind out 1,500 points for them, or I can ship 500 Calcium Ore over using the Orbital Cargo Launcher. It’s basically points or resources, your choice!

To level up quickly, you can combine different methods. Earning points by trading items from abandoned camps is a great strategy, and you’ll get even more points if you trade in valuable items like Meteorite Hearts.

Increasing the Size of Your Map

Okay, so in StarRupture, you don’t have to spend ages running around to map everything out, which is awesome! Like in other games with big towers, I can reveal huge sections of the map super quickly. I just need to find and use a Geo Scanner – it does all the work for me!

Geo Scanners are small buildings with radar dishes. I’ve noticed they often have a corpse at the bottom, which you can loot for extra items.

When you locate a Geo Scanner, activate it to begin gathering data. While it’s working, creatures called Vermin will emerge from the ground and try to attack, so be prepared!

Protect yourself and the Geo Scanner from incoming waves of enemies for a short time. If you defeat them all, you’ll unlock a new part of the map.

The Geo Scanner reveals a wide circular area on the map, highlighting important locations like bodies, drone crashes, and places yet to be discovered.
