In Hytale, getting better gear is key to progressing. Players need to improve their Workbenches or Crafting Stations to unlock more powerful tools, weapons, and armor. Eventually, everyone will need to do this to continue their adventure.
This guide covers everything you need to know about Workbenches, including how to improve them. You’ll find helpful tips on quickly gathering upgrade materials and learn which crafting stations are most important to prioritize.
How To Upgrade Workbenches in Hytale
Using a Workbench or any crafting station like a Furnace, Armorer’s Workbench, or Blacksmith’s Anvil will show you its quality level, or Tier. These start at Tier 1 and can be improved up to Tier 3. However, some stations – the Furniture Bench, Builder’s Workbench, and Chef’s Stove – only reach Tier 1 and don’t need upgrading.
Each Workbench requires specific materials to upgrade. These materials are often related to what the Workbench itself is used to create. For instance, upgrading the Blacksmith’s Anvil to Tier 2 needs 20 Iron Ingots, 30 Light Leather, 30 Linen Scraps, and 15 Venom Sacs.
To get started, players should build a Furnace and use it to smelt Copper Ore. Then, they can quickly move on to the Iron Tier by using their Copper Pickaxe to mine Iron. Since Iron and Copper frequently appear near each other, exploring caves, ruins, and crypts is a great way to gather both resources and advance to the next Tier.
It’s best to upgrade the Workbench first. This lets you get Backpack Upgrades and unlock better tools like Pickaxes, Hatchets, and Shovels. After that, focus on upgrading the Blacksmith’s Anvil and then the Armorer’s Workbench.
To thrive in Hytale long-term, you’ll definitely need both the Alchemist’s and Arcanist’s Workbenches. The Farmer’s Workbench isn’t essential, but if you want to master the entire crafting system, it’s worth investing in.
As you improve your Workbenches, you’ll unlock new crafting recipes, letting you create better armor, weapons, and tools to enjoy Hytale even more. Each upgrade costs more than the last and requires rarer materials found in challenging areas.
