How to Upgrade Farmhouse in Fields of Mistria

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I must say that the house upgrades in Fields of Mistria have been nothing short of a delightful challenge. With each new version, the game continues to evolve and expand, offering more opportunities for customization and immersion.

Each evening, make sure you return to your farmhouse situated in the mystical landscape of Mistria, before midnight strikes at 2:00am. When starting anew, your home offers enough space for a bed and some essentials, but if you aspire to cook within your farm or personalize its decor, consider upgrading it. In the realm of Mistria, house upgrades necessitate a certain number of Tesserae and specific crafting materials like wood and stone. As of the 0.12.3 version released on November 18th, 2024 (Mistria’s v0.12.3), there are currently three upgrade options available. It’s anticipated that additional upgrades will be introduced with Mistria’s next major update.

How to Upgrade Farmhouse in Fields of Mistria

As a gamer venturing through the magical lands of Fields of Mistria, I found myself yearning to enhance my cozy farmhouse. To do so, I traversed along The Eastern Road until I reached the Carpenter’s Shop, nestled in the northwest corner of this bustling thoroughfare. Upon arrival, I approached the sign on the front desk, and voila! A menu appeared offering options for Shop, Home Upgrade (still under development in Early Access), and Farm Expansion. When I selected ‘Home Upgrade,’ a list of necessary materials and their corresponding costs were displayed before my eager eyes, helping me plan my next steps to upgrade my beloved farmhouse.

You can’t go straight from Home Upgrade 1 to Home Upgrade 3; you must complete each upgrade individually instead.

As of Fields of Mistria‘s Early Access, here are all the House Upgrades:

Where to Farm Materials

You can find Wood and Stone just about anywhere in Mistria by cutting down trees/chopping up branches, or breaking rocks/boulders in the mines. Since House Upgrades require such a large amount of materials, it’s highly recommended you upgrade your tools. Start by getting the Silver Pickaxe or the Silver Axe from the Blacksmith, or level up your Blacksmith Skill so you can create them yourselves. Silver tools require Silver Ingot, which can be made from ten pieces of Silver Ore.

An expedient, though somewhat pricier option for acquiring Wood or Stone is by purchasing them directly from the Carpenter’s Store. Each item will set you back 20 Tesserae.

Iron Ingot

  • To get Iron Ingot for House Upgrade #2, you’ll need to smelt x10 Iron Ore at the anvil at the Blacksmith’s House.
  • You can get Iron Ore from the Ironclod monsters in the Tide Caverns (21-39) of the mines.
  • Iron Nodes are also found in the Tide Caverns, which can be broken to farm a piece of Iron Ore or two.
  • Iron Ore can be bought from the Blacksmith for 50 Tesserae.

Silver Ingot

  • To get Silver Ingot for House Upgrade #3, you’ll need to smelt x10 Silver Ore at the anvil.
  • You can get Silver Ore from mining Silver Nodes on the Deep Earth (41-59) floors of the mines. Defeating Silverclods is another way to farm Silver Ore.
  • Silver Ore can be bought from the Blacksmith for 100 Tesserae.

There are certain perks/skills you can unlock from the dragon statue in the Mines Entrance that increase the amount of Ore dropped from nodes and enemies.

Should You Upgrade Farmhouse Before Barns/Coops?

When to Upgrade Farmhouse

How to Upgrade Farmhouse in Fields of Mistria

It would be best if you carried out the initial house upgrade by the spring of Year 1. You might consider postponing House Upgrades 2 and 3 for later. Instead, focus on constructing bigger barns and coops to accommodate your livestock first.

Enlarging your living area is a smart choice if you’re finding yourself running out of room for all your decorative items. If you’ve been regularly donating to the museum, you might find yourself with an abundance of furniture and recipes that you’re unsure what to do with. Rather than storing them away, consider using this expanded space to beautifully arrange these items in your farmhouse instead.

Before you can begin courting the bachelorettes or bachelors in Mistria during Early Access, it’s probably necessary to make improvements to your house and carry out farm expansions first.
