How To Upgrade Weapons and Armor in Grime 2

It can be tricky to find the NPC who upgrades your weapons in Grime 2, especially if you’re not sure where to look. Fortunately, the first weapon upgrade provider, a Breathsmith, is easy to find. They’re located at Manzil’s House, which is the first safe area players reach in the game.

After unlocking this area, players can improve their weapons and armor by visiting Goldhead, the blacksmith. However, upgrades require specific materials. Here’s a guide to upgrading your gear in Grime 2, including how to find the necessary materials.

How to Upgrade Items in Grime 2

In Grime 2, you can improve your weapons and armor by visiting a Breathsmith. You’ll first meet Goldhead, who can be found in Manzil’s House. He’s located in the upper left room, which you can reach through a door.

To upgrade your gear, speak to him and choose ‘Enhance Equipment’. This will open a menu where you can scroll through your weapons and armor, select the items you want to improve, and press ‘Confirm’. You’ll need Aurum and other materials to do so.

  • Thin Marah Strand: Can be found hanging on the ceilings of caves and other hidden places. Used to upgrade Armor up to +3.
  • Marah Strand: A superior version of the material needed to upgrade clothes from Tirer 4 and further.
  • Bloodroot Splinter: A glowing red stone that can be found on the ceiling of caves and passages. Used to upgrade weapons up to +3.
  • Bloodroot Shard: A superior version of the Bloodroot Splinter. Can be used to upgrade weapons from tier 4 and beyond.
  • Breath Mark: Can be used to upgrade Breathcrowns. Can be found by defeating powerful prey (enemies).

In Grime 2, upgrading weapons and armor requires Aurum, which is essentially gold. You can earn Aurum by defeating enemies or finding Golden Orbs throughout the game’s levels. Keep in mind that each upgrade costs more materials and Aurum than the last, so you’ll need to collect a good amount if you want fully upgraded gear.
