I can’t help but be captivated by “Warriors: Abyss”, a game that seamlessly blends multiple elements towards an intriguing objective. It feels like a fusion of the timeless action of “Dynasty Warriors”, the strategic depth of roguelikes, and the addictive gameplay loop of “Vampire Survivors”. Each component is skillfully integrated to form a compelling mix that’s difficult to tear myself away from.
In Warriors: Abyss, the combat system might seem new to players who aren’t familiar with its parent series. The attacks and combos are straightforward, but they could initially appear confusing. However, with a bit of practice, you’ll be effortlessly launching gigantic fireballs and lightning bolts as if it were nothing.
How to Use Combos in Warriors: Abyss
In the game “Warriors: Abyss”, players primarily inflict damage through the use of combos. Each character has two actions – one for a basic strike and another for a charged attack. By skillfully blending these two moves, players can execute distinct combos. Players can link up to 6 normal attacks together. But, just stringing together regular attacks doesn’t cause much damage.
In addition to regular attacks, samurai characters can string together consecutive charged attacks and combine them with normal ones, resulting in an entirely fresh series of combos.
In this game, the true powerhouse comes into play when you link regular strikes with powerful charged attacks. The fundamental pattern for combos is to alternate between one regular attack and two (like Regular-Charged, Regular-Regular-Charged, and so forth), but the sixth normal attack doesn’t chain with a special move. Each combo has its own unique animation and damage level. Additionally, you can hold these combinations to call a character from your formation that corresponds with the number of normal attacks in the combo. For instance, a two-normal attack chain summons the second character in your formation, while a five-normal attack chain brings forth the fifth character in your formation. This pattern continues as you increase the number of normal attacks in the combo.
Players can continue a combo even if it gets interrupted by a dash.
How to Unlock Combos in Warriors: Abyss
To perform a sequence with the sixth and fifth summon, or a five-chain Normal Attack in this game, players need to accumulate a specific quantity of skill badges. Characters from Dynasty Warriors also possess EX attacks that extend combos beyond the standard limit, inflicting much greater damage. These can be accessed by collecting skill badges as well.
Certain characters could initially have a symbol representing a skill. Acquiring additional skills can be achieved by selecting appropriate characters during the hiring phase following the clearance of each floor, or they may be obtained as rewards from enemy encounters.
