Many players don’t realize that the Spotter Relay in ARC Raiders has a powerful, hidden ability in player-versus-player combat. It can be used to redirect the attention of nearby ARC enemies towards your opponents.
This tactic will draw the attention of ARC enemies – like Wasps, Hornets, Rocketeers, and even Spotters and Bombardiers – to one specific player (or multiple players if you use several Spotter Relays). This guide will show you how to get Spotter Relays and use them effectively in player-versus-player combat.
How To Get & Use Spotter Relays in ARC Raiders
In ARC Raiders, you get Spotter Relays by defeating Spotters – small ARC Drones that always hang around Bombardiers. When Spotters detect players, they’ll mark them with a laser, causing the nearby Bombardier to start firing at their location. While Spotters are easy to defeat, taking them down significantly limits the Bombardier’s ability to track players, though it doesn’t make the Bombardier completely safe.
Additionally, enemies called Spotters will reappear frequently, roughly every few minutes. This allows players to repeatedly defeat them and collect the Relays they drop after the main boss, the Bombardier, is beaten.
The Spotter Relay is a unique item categorized as ‘Recyclable’, but it functions like a grenade. You can equip it in an active gear slot and throw it, similar to Hornet and Wasp Drivers. Once it lands, it will automatically target the closest player. Be careful though – anyone, including the thrower, can become the target if they’re too close!
Targeting another player with a Spotter Relay is considered a hostile act and will increase your PvP score. This will also make you eligible for PvP matches in the next matchmaking cycle.
Spotter Relays, used with Snitch Scanners, can create an endless swarm of Wasps and Hornets. This allows you to overwhelm enemy Raiders by marking them and directing the insects to attack.
However, be warned: this tactic can easily fail. A large group of Wasps or Hornets can quickly overwhelm and defeat even a heavily armored Raider, despite them having a strong shield.
