Pokemon Legends Z-A’s Mega Dimension DLC introduces a new feature called the Hyperdimension Rift Survey. To complete these surveys, players must venture into the perilous Hyperdimension Lumiose and achieve specific objectives.
The instruction “Use the Catch Window” is often the most confusing for players. To help everyone complete all the Survey challenges before time runs out, here’s a simple explanation of what to do when a trainer asks you to catch Pokémon using this method.
How To Use The Capture Window in Pokemon Legends Z-A Mega Dimension DLC
In Hyperspace Lumiose, players earn Survey Points by completing Goals. One randomly assigned goal is to activate the ‘Capture Window’.
The Capture Window is when a wild Pokémon is most vulnerable – right after it’s been weakened in battle. You’ll know it’s happening because stars will start circling its head. This window of opportunity is very short, usually lasting only about 2.3 seconds.
To complete this Goal, players need to seize the opportunity to catch the Pokémon when it appears. This typically requires successfully catching it 3 to 5 times, which will reward them with between 600 and 1200 Survey Points.
To catch a Pokemon, first aim at it while it’s weakened by holding down the ZL button. Then, use the left stick to pick a Poke Ball, and let go of the ZR button to throw it.
As a player, I’ve learned that those little arrows next to the Wild Pokemon on the screen actually show how likely you are to catch it! The more arrows you see, the better your chances of adding that Pokemon to your team. It’s a really helpful visual cue!
Players can get an extra bonus by throwing a ball at the Pokémon’s back while the Catch Window is open, but they need to be well-timed to succeed.
Finally, it’s important to know that once you defeat a Rogue Mega Evolved Pokémon from a Rift encounter in the Mega Dimension DLC, it can be caught with any Poké Ball – you’re guaranteed to succeed!
