So, I just finished playing Paranormasight: The Mermaid’s Curse, and it’s the sequel to last year’s awesome game, The Seven Mysteries of Honjo. Let me tell you, this one is a real head-scratcher! It’s a visual novel with a brand new mystery, and you really have to pay attention to everything if you want to figure it out. It totally sucked me in!
Players will experience a challenging mystery through the eyes of multiple characters, uncovering the truth behind an 800-year-old curse. This curse is rooted in Japanese mermaid folklore and connected to a series of murders and strange, supernatural occurrences.
Because the game doesn’t follow a straightforward path, it’s easy to overlook important clues or details if you don’t listen carefully to every conversation. This is especially true when solving the more challenging puzzles, which often require specific actions in a particular order and clever use of the game’s unique systems to overcome obstacles.
During the Ise-Shima Investigation, players encounter a puzzle that requires them to use a Curse – a key ability they’ll rely on throughout the game – for the very first time.
How to Use the Curse of Binding in Ise-Shima Investigation Chapter

In the Ise-Shima Investigation, Yumeko and Sodo unexpectedly meet a strange girl named Circe Lunarlight while at the coast of Toba City. Circe is revealed to be a young exorcist who comes from England.
Her actions are strange and unpredictable, so they have to find a way to keep her from causing more trouble.
You’ll need to use Sodo’s Curse of Binding – one of his special psychic abilities – to do this. This is the first time the game asks you to activate a Curse power yourself, so it’s okay if you’re not sure what to do. It’s actually pretty straightforward!
All Curses in Paranormasight need certain conditions to be met before they can be used, and the player needs to trigger them at the correct moment. For this particular curse, you need to get Circe to let her guard down so Sodo can take action.
When playing as Yumeko, you need to be careful what you say to Circe to keep her calm and distracted. Here’s the specific order of dialogue choices you should make:
- Select Threaten (3 times in a row)
- Select Compliment (1 time)
- Select Appease (1 time)
- Select Question (1 time)
- Select Give Up (1 time)
If Circe says “Really? Thanks,” you’ll have a chance to act quickly. The option for The Curse of Binding will pop up in the top-left corner, and you need to press the button to activate it.
Okay, so don’t sweat it if you mess up the prompt! If the timer hits zero, just hit ‘Give Up’ again and it’ll trigger the response, letting you try one more time. But heads up – you only get three tries total, so really focus and get it right!
If you manage to succeed, you’re in for a treat – a big surprise awaits the main characters later in the story! Paranormasight: The Mermaid’s Curse, created by Square Enix, can be played on Nintendo Switch, PC (through Steam), and mobile devices like Android and iOS.
