How to Use the Matioscope in Quarantine Zone The Last Check

The Matioscope is a late-game tool in Quarantine Zone: The Last Check that lets you examine a survivor’s eye to detect parasites or other signs of infection. It allows players to feel like scientists, carefully observing the different layers of the retina for anything unusual. This guide will show you how to use the Matioscope and includes pictures of the various symptoms you might find.

How To Use The Matioscope In Quarantine Zone: The Last Check

To use the Matioscope in the Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, aim it at the patient’s eye and click (left mouse button/right trigger/R2). Then, bring the view into focus by scrolling forward with the scroll wheel, or by holding the left trigger/L2. This will give you a clear view to check for parasites – or confirm their absence.

You can use the Mouse, WASD, or the Left Stick to pan around.

If you notice anything strange during the first look, you can get a closer view by using the Q, LB, or L1 buttons. As you investigate further, you’ll need to refocus. Use the E, RB, or R1 buttons to zoom back out.

What To Look For In The Matioscope

For the first second, everything appears normal with no signs of illness. But just because you see parasites doesn’t necessarily mean the person or animal is actually infected.

When someone gets sick, you’ll usually see several symptoms at the same time. It’s common to have multiple instances of each symptom. Because some parasites can look alike, it’s important to get a close look to identify them correctly.

Remember to mark any findings in the symptoms chart.

When To Use The Matioscope

Use the Matioscope on patients with drooping eyelids, as this could indicate a problem.

Buy the initial upgrade to allow the metal detector to also scan for potential health issues. If the eye icon appears, use the Matioscope to investigate further.

To make absolutely sure you haven’t missed anything, it’s fast and easy to use the Matioscope to check for parasites.

All Matioscope Symptoms In Quarantine Zone: The Last Check

When you use the Matioscope, any potential problems or unusual findings in the retina are shown at the bottom of the screen. Because some of these can look alike, it’s helpful to familiarize yourself with what they appear to be.

From the beginning, you’ll have access to all eight symptoms when using the Matioscope. You won’t need to unlock them through lab research.

Ocular Spicular Bacterium – Sickness

Thread Cluster – Sickness

Ocular Helminth – Sickness

Adenoviral Body – Sickness

Phage Complex – Sickness Or Infection

Chromatic Staphylococcus – Sickness Or Infection

Necrotic Plume

Corneal Infiltrate

It can be hard to tell the difference between an Adenoviral Body, Chromatic Staphylococcus, and Corneal Infiltrate because they all look like orange spots when viewed from far away.

As a bit of a sci-fi movie buff, I’ve learned that even small details matter! In Quarantine Zone, you really have to pay attention. There are these two things that look alike – the Ocular Spicular Bacterium and the Phage Complex – but a big clue is the color. The Bacterium is distinctly pink, while the Complex is orange. Getting those little differences right is how you figure out what’s going on with the symptoms, and honestly, it’s a classic trope – the tiny detail that saves the day!
