You can improve the Morning Glory General Store by earning Funds. To do this, check the Bulletin Board for Requests and complete them. Many different characters post Requests, which typically involve either doing specific tasks or donating items and ingredients.

If I need some extra Funds in the game, I usually head to the Sell option. I can get a good amount of cash by selling things like bugs I caught in the Bug Catching minigame, or items I crafted using the Sewing minigame. It’s a pretty easy way to make money!
