How to Write Books in Heartopia

In Heartopia, the more you advance your D.G. Level, the more things you can do. As you level up, you’ll unlock activities like painting and making music, and eventually even writing books!

Okay, so creating and sharing your own books in Heartopia can be a little tricky to figure out at first. There are a few things you need to do before your book is actually live, and honestly, I was getting a bit lost! That’s why I’m so glad the Heartopia team put together this guide – it really walks you through how to make your own books and gets you publishing without getting stuck!

How to Write a Book in Heartopia

In Heartopia, you need to reach level 16 before you can start writing books. Once you do, you’ll get some quests from Mrs. Joan. After completing those quests, you can buy a writing desk at Ka Ching’s general store using either Gold or Wishing Stars.

When you set up the writing desk, a computer will be included. This is where you’ll write your book. Use the computer to open the book-writing interface. Click the plus sign to create a new book, give it a title, and begin writing!

Feel free to write about anything that inspires you! You could focus on the town, the characters you meet, your pets, your interests, or create your own original story. You can organize your writing into chapters, each with its own title. Keep chapter titles short – no more than 10 characters – and aim for a total book length of up to 4,500 words.

Feel free to include pictures in your book! You can use photos you’ve taken with the in-game camera or drawings you’ve created. You can add a maximum of 15 pictures. To see what your book will look like, click the preview icon (it looks like an eye).

Okay, so if I want to rearrange my book – add a chapter or delete one – I just click that little three-line icon under ‘Settings’. And inside Settings, I can tweak things like how much space there is between paragraphs or how far in the first line of each paragraph is. The cool thing is, those changes only affect how the book looks when it’s published. My working draft stays exactly as I’ve been writing it, which is great!

How to Publish Your Book in Heartopia

Okay, so I finally finished writing my book! Now it’s time to get it out there. I just need to click the globe icon, then add the title (if I haven’t already), a catchy tagline, and a little description of what it’s about. I can decide if I want everyone to see it or keep it just for me. But here’s the thing – to actually publish it, I need a Book Publishing Permit, and that costs Moonlight Crystals. Gotta go farm some of those!

Once a book is published, you cannot edit it.

Once your book is published, it will be available for sale at the bookstore. You can browse other books while you’re there. If you prefer to keep your book private, return home and change its settings on the computer.
