It’s been over twenty years since the first Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, and the new sequel could tie into the original game’s story. Given that the characters are immortal vampires, fans are hoping to see some familiar faces make an appearance.
The classic game Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines takes place in Los Angeles in the early 2000s. Different vampire groups are fighting for dominance, creating a tense and volatile situation. The appearance of an ancient vampire’s coffin, called the Ankaran Sarcophagus, escalates the conflict, and the player, newly turned into a vampire, is immediately caught up in the dangerous political landscape.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 takes place in Seattle in 2024. You play as Phyre, a very old vampire who has just woken up in the present day. The vampire world has changed a lot: the Kuei-jin vampires are no longer part of the story, the brutal Sabbat sect is almost destroyed, and humans are actively hunting vampires across the globe as part of a new organization called the Second Inquisition.
While Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is set in a modern era unlike the original game, characters from the past could still reappear and share their thoughts on this changed world.

Damsel Is The Only Returning Character In Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2

Originally, a trailer for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 showed that Damsel, a popular character from the first game, would be in the sequel. However, after the game’s development restarted with a new team, The Chinese Room, fans weren’t sure if she would still appear.
Damsel does make an appearance in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, but her part is small. She appears near the end of the game and how she reacts depends on how you’ve dealt with the Anarchs during your playthrough.
Damsel’s appearance feels forced, like it was included just to match a previous trailer. She doesn’t really contribute to the story, and her interactions with Phyre are minimal.
Other Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines Characters Appear In Notes

Besides character appearances, the game includes references through collectible notes. Throughout Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, players will find letters, newspapers, and diary entries that contain subtle nods to the original game.
You can discover notes written by characters such as Nines Rodriguez and Beckett. These notes add more detail to the game’s world but don’t reveal much about what happened to these characters after the first game’s story.
Some characters from the video game Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines have shown up in the latest edition of the tabletop role-playing game, and also appeared in L.A. By Night, a live-action RPG similar to Critical Role. Fans interested in what happened to these characters can find more information in those games.
It’s a bit unexpected that popular figures like Jeanette & Therese Voerman and places like The Asylum nightclub weren’t included. However, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has the freedom to create its own unique feel, distinct from the original game.
