The iconic professional wrestler Hulk Hogan, renowned in the world of WWE, has passed away at 71 years old. In the ’80s, Hulk Hogan became a household name by headlining the inaugural WrestleMania, holding the WWF Championship for most of that decade, and sparking the surge of mainstream wrestling popularity. Later on, he departed from WWE to wrestle for rival promotion WCW, igniting another wave of interest in wrestling.
At WCW Bash at the Beach 1996, Hulk Hogan stunned everyone with a dramatic change of allegiance, giving birth to the New World Order (nWo), one of wrestling’s most powerful and beloved factions ever. The nWo’s rise led to WCW outperforming WWE in ratings for 83 consecutive weeks during the Monday Night Wars, which eventually sparked the Attitude Era and introduced new WWE stars like “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and The Rock. Later, Hogan rejoined WWE after its acquisition of WCW, where he enjoyed a successful babyface run wearing his iconic red-and-yellow attire, reclaiming the WWE Championship in 2002. Since then, Hogan has made periodic returns to WWE and even spent time wrestling for TNA.
Hulk Hogan Cause of Death
As reported by TMZ Sports, Hulk Hogan passed away at the age of 71 in Clearwater, Florida during the early hours of Thursday, July 24th. Although an official statement is still pending, it’s being suggested that his death was due to cardiac arrest. The news of Hogan’s passing follows weeks after rumors emerged about the wrestling icon allegedly being very ill, which were refuted initially.
Throughout his professional wrestling career, Hulk Hogan has amassed an impressive collection of titles. He’s held the WWE Championship six times, teamed up with Edge to capture the tag team championship once, won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship six times, and claimed the IWGP Heavyweight Championship once. Additionally, he’s garnered various other titles along the way. Hogan is a two-time winner of the Royal Rumble event and has been honored with induction into the WWE Hall of Fame twice – first in 2005 as an individual inductee, followed by induction as part of the New World Order group in 2020.
