Crytek, a German development company, has released a major update for the game “Hunt: Showdown 1896.” This update squashes numerous bugs and simultaneously starts the Garden of the Witch event. The event features a confrontation between Brujas, Welders, and the Corruption in Hunt: Showdown 1896’s Garden of the Witch. Additionally, the Dead Man’s Cut DLC for the game is now available, featuring a new Hunter character and three intriguing skins.
Initially debuting as a full game in 2019, “Hunt: Showdown” later introduced its updated version, titled “Hunt: Showdown 1896,” in 2024 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. This followed the conclusion of support for previous-gen platforms. The new version now stands alongside other top southern gothic horror games like “Resident Evil 7: Biohazard,” “Alone in the Dark,” and “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.” It has also collaborated with notable entities such as the “Scream” movie franchise and artist Post Malone in the past.
In this latest update (2.3), I’ve noticed several improvements to the gameplay experience. For instance, all silencers now deal 10% less base damage. The Hand Crossbow Revive Bolt ammo has been taken out, and new Hunters will now start with 10 Upgrade Points instead of random Traits.
This update also brought some exciting new equipment to the game, such as the 1865 Carbine Silencer, Mosin Obrez Match, and Mosin Obrez Sharpeye variants. These can be obtained using the latest custom 1865 Carbine Subsonic Ammo, a fantastic addition to the arsenal in Hunt: Showdown 1896.
Moreover, the developers have acknowledged that they’re still working on resolving some significant issues like occasional crashes and freezing during Mission loadings. Exciting times ahead!
Hunt: Showdown 1896 Releases Big Update 2.3 Alongside Garden of the Witch Event
The patch synchronously arrived with the Garden of the Witch event, introducing a novel Supply Point category known as Rare Supplies, along with revised Pledge Mark strategies featuring 2 PMs for vanquishing the Boss Target in Bounty Clash. This should undoubtedly improve Hunt: Showdown 1896 players’ optimal Bounty Clash compositions. Additionally, gamers can take advantage of event-limited Rare Traits, such as Blademancer, Corpse Seer, and Gunrunner, which were previously available only in select events.
In spite of the unfavorable reactions towards the planned August 2024 launch of a fresh engine update and user interface overhaul for Hunt: Showdown 1896, it remarkably achieved a record-breaking feat by drawing more than 60,000 simultaneous players amidst the controversy. Fortunately, the latest March 2025 update has been well-received by players due to its wealth of new content and enhancements. Some enthusiasts have even praised the “crazy” new skins available in the DLC expansion.
