In the realm of Shonen manga, Hunter x Hunter boasts an extraordinarily intriguing power system known as Nen. This meticulously designed Nen power system never fails to captivate readers, as they eagerly anticipate the innovative Nen abilities that Yoshihiro Togashi will concoct.
In Chapter 401 of Hunter x Hunter, Togashi presents a fresh Nen skill, this time wielded by the intriguing figure, Longhi. Fans should definitely watch him closely during the Succession War as his abilities unfold.
Who is Longhi?
- The Bodyguard for the 5th Prince
- The Daughter of Beyond Netero
Character named Longhi, who previously hadn’t garnered much focus from fans in the story, made her debut in chapter 369 of Hunter x Hunter manga, titled “Limits.” This chapter falls within the ongoing Succession Contest Arc. Longhi serves as the personal bodyguard for Prince Tubeppa and was presented alongside other royal guards during this arc. She wasn’t the only guard dispatched by Prince Tubeppa that day; Maor was also present, following the prince’s orders to enlist Kurapika on their side, even if it meant striking an alliance with Prince Woble.
It was only much later that Longhi chose to disclose that she possessed Nen. Interestingly, she didn’t volunteer this information when asked earlier in the story, “Who among you can already use nen?” Not even her own prince is aware of her abilities.
2 years ago, it wasn’t immediately apparent that Longhi would become a memorable character. However, it wasn’t until the end of chapter 400 that her true role began to be suggested. In Hunter X Hunter chapter 402, at the very end of the story, she confided in Kurapika that she was already skilled in nen and managed to get him to agree to a contract that would see Prince Woble ally with Prince Tubeppa.
In Chapter 401, we delve deeper into the events that unfolded during the meeting. This chapter offers fans a glimpse of Longhi’s unique Nen ability, the Transparent World – Moonlight Decree, which she employs in her pact with Kurapika. Furthermore, this chapter discloses groundbreaking information about the Succession War, the central theme of this arc. It is revealed that Longhi is Beyond Netero’s daughter and she holds the belief that one of the Kakin princes is actually Beyond Netero’s offspring, destined to claim the Kakin throne. Tragically, Longhi and her half-siblings have been afflicted by a curse, turning them into human sacrifices at their father’s hands, in pursuit of this goal.
One of the princes is Beyond’s Child! That’s what I think. — Longhi
As a devoted reader, I must admit that within the blink of an eye, Longhi has swiftly emerged as one of the pivotal figures in this storyline. What’s truly captivating is her determination to eliminate the prince, her own brother, once his true identity is revealed. Without a doubt, Longhi’s influence will only intensify from hereon.
The Power of Transparent World – Moonlight Decree
A Nen Ability That Falls Under Manipulation
In chapter 401 of the popular series, Hunter x Hunter, not only did readers uncover vast amounts of information, but they were privileged to observe a fresh Nen technique being utilized – Longhi’s Transparent World – Lunar Decree.
In simpler terms, “Transparent World – Moonlight Decree” might be a method of manipulating others, as suggested by Longhi when she refers to it as a “Conditional Manipulative Ability.” Initially, the ability could be misunderstood as a Specialist’s power due to its demonstration that allows someone else to utilize it as a favor, contingent on a contract. However, the way Longhi explains her ability suggests manipulation rather than specialization, leading us to believe that Longhi is more likely a Manipulator rather than a Specialist.
Regardless of the approach taken, Longhi’s Transparent World – Moonlight Decree is undeniably a valuable skill. Essentially, this talent empowers her to establish temporary agreements, implying that these accords must be re-negotiated to remain active.
As a devoted fan, I’ve come to understand that Longhi’s contract holds immense power – it’s like a double-edged sword. She has the authority to either bless or limit those who agree to her terms. In essence, if someone shows respect for her contract, she can pass on some of her powers to them. However, disregard for her contract can lead to a dangerous predicament known as Zetsu. This state renders a person incapable of accessing their aura and thus unable to utilize their abilities. Given the perilous nature of the Black Whale, this could be potentially disastrous.
Among Longhi’s powers, honesty is a crucial aspect. This means she always tells the truth about her abilities and the terms of any contracts. Consequently, she can’t deceive anyone with her power. It’s important to note that the individual signing this contract does so willingly and understands its terms. They are not coerced or forced into signing it.
Longhi’s Contract with Kurapika Using Moonlight Decree
A Contract For One Week Between Prince Woble and Prince Tubeppa
Previously, it’s clear that Prince Tubeppa has been making efforts to persuade Kurapika to join forces with him, despite the fact that this could involve aligning with the 14th Prince, who is currently under Kurapika’s protection – Prince Woble.
Longhi successfully persuaded Kurapika to accept her conditions, thereby fulfilling exactly what was required by Prince Tubeppa. She presented all details to Kurapika with utmost clarity and transparency. The crux of their agreement can be summarized as follows:
In this arrangement, no princes, queens, or their personal guards should inflict harm upon one another. This agreement serves as a peace treaty, bridging the gaps between the factions led by Princes Tubeppa and Woble respectively.
If there’s mutual agreement to extend the contract, it will be renewed every Sunday at 9 am in room 1014, the same spot where discussions are happening in the manga. Tubeppa needn’t personally renew the contract; instead, she can delegate a representative to room 1014. It’s been made clear that actions not intentionally harmful won’t violate the contract. In other words, only actions deemed malicious will be considered breaches.
By making someone agree to a temporary agreement, I can either limit the scope of their skills they can use or put constraints on their actions. – Translated by me
In this contract, Longhi specifies that if any breach occurs, a state known as Zetsu will be enforced, disabling someone’s Nen ability for a week. Furthermore, Longhi requires Kurapika and his associates, along with Prince Woble, to determine the son of Beyond before Tubeppa exits the Succession War. If no prince is found to be the son of Beyond, the contract will be considered complete at that point.
