The new Shrouded Sky update has brought powerful hurricane-force winds to ARC Raiders. This ‘Hurricane’ map condition changes how raids normally work, making it more unpredictable for everyone – experienced players and newcomers alike. With visibility limited, you can’t be sure if what’s ahead is an enemy player or one of the new ARCs. Being prepared is crucial for survival! We’ve included some helpful tips and the locations of valuable First Wave Raider Caches to increase your chances of escaping with great loot.
Save Your Shields from Damage in Hurricane Map Condition
Okay, so playing ARC Raiders on the Hurricane map, the biggest pain is definitely the wind. It picks up all sorts of junk and just throws it at you. When stuff hits my shield, it starts sparking, which is bad news. Not only does it basically shout to other players where I am, but each hit also slowly breaks down my shield’s health and makes it less effective. Gotta be careful out there!
To keep your shield from getting damaged, take it off when you’re out in the open. This will let you move around more quietly, but you’ll lose some protection. The benefit is you won’t have to constantly recharge your shield when you find cover.
Generally, fights between players in open areas will take longer because players won’t be using shields. But when you move inside, you’ll need to re-equip your shield quickly to regain your defense.
Okay, so in ARC Raiders, I figured out a super quick way to swap shields. Instead of dragging them around, you can just double-click the shield in your inventory with your mouse. If I’m on Xbox, I can highlight the shield and hit ‘X’, and on PlayStation, it’s the ‘Square’ button. It’s way faster than manually swapping, trust me!
When preparing for Hurricane mode in ARC Raiders, it’s smart to equip both close-range and medium-range weapons. Because your shield is down, players tend to fight more often inside buildings, leading to a lot of close-quarters combat.
Learn the Flow of the Winds and Use Them to Your Advantage
Hurricane winds can either help or hinder you. Pay attention to the wind’s direction – it generally blows consistently from one side. Running with the wind will make you faster, but running against it will slow you down considerably.
This movement buff or slowdown will also affect your jumping, sliding, and dodge-rolling.
To best use the Hurricane map feature, start by watching the wind direction and seeing which areas are in its path. Then, use the increased speed to sprint longer distances and quickly get to places that are far away.
Because locations on the Hurricane map have double the usual loot, you can find high-quality items even in less-visited areas. This means you don’t need to risk traveling far during the storm – a nearby location will do!
Don’t Sleep on First Wave Raider Caches in ARC Raiders Hurricane Event
As part of the Hurricane event, new First Wave Raider Caches are appearing on the maps. They contain better loot than standard Raider Caches and are easy to find – instead of the usual ticking sounds, they make a distinct digital beeping noise.
Finding First Wave Raider Caches can be really rewarding in ARC Raiders, even though strong winds might make them hard to locate. They have a chance to contain some of the game’s best blueprints, like the one for the Tempest.
Find First Wave Raider Cache locations using TopMob’s interactive maps. These caches appear in the same places as regular Raider Caches, making it simple to locate these valuable containers during the Hurricane event in ARC Raiders.
